Ultraforge Greater Wardemon available at Huddersfield Games
April 11, 2012 by dignity
In today’s un-boxing, the guys have let me off the leash to go hunting for something off topic. What I’ve found is the Greater Wardemon from Ultraforge Miniatures, and it’s turned out to be one of the coolest demonic models I have ever worked on. So I want to say a big thanks to the guys at Huddersfield Games for sending it in to us.
Here are the links where you can get this epic demon:
Wow, this model goes to show one of the great benefits of using resin. The detail is fantastic, pits in the armour and cloth look realistic (Or at least as realistic as a demon can look). Ultraforge has a great line of beautifully rendered models, definately worth checking out.
Great video, and thanks for showing us another great product from Ultraforge
Looks really nice, in an evil way. Looking at their other minis they seem to have done alternates for all the greater daemons, this one does look a bit like the mark gibbons bloodthirster pic. Though there’s nothing on it to indicate its scale in relation to other minis so in a FB or 40k army it could look out of scale rather than big. Not sure about the pose, it looks a bit cramped. I guess all those issues could be fixed with a conversion but im not sure how easy resin is to convert.
I have that model and the small plague demon aswell, they are awsome! Looks way better than GWs or FW deamons.
Great video and good presentation !
The details on this kit are amazing, the proportions are right, the joints are perfectly adjusted for the modeler, and the pre-magnetizing slots are a great idea… The regular GW demon prince looks like a child’s toy, a puny caricature, in comparison.
Granted it’s twice the price of the GW Demon prince, but it’s also four times its size, ten times its quality, and a gazillion times the fun to paint… IMHO.
That model looks amazing, and that’s the best daemon sculpt Ive ever seen. I’m going to buy one asap.
This would look great as a Bloodletter. Fantastic model!
erm… I mean, Bloodthirster… sorry, not a Chaos guy.
I’ve always been a massive fan of Ultraforge, though I only recently got round to actually buying one of their minis which is hopefully in the post as I type this. Aside from the amazing sculpt, quality of casting and everything else this model (and Ultraforge’s other stuff) has going for it there is also the price aspect. Now while the Great War Demon, the Dragon and the Vrock are the most expensive of the range no doubt due to things like the wings and the general chunkyness of the models, the Giant stands out as one of the best… Read more »
Thank you for your interest in this product. Ultraforge models are not sold directly any more, hence looking out of ciculation. The stock is moved through a US importer. I import them from them for resale. We have been selling them on ebay for well over a year. It was time to move away from ebay and we now sell them off the web site. Due to ebay charges its a difficult market to be in during these times. We can now maintain and beat our previous disount if your prepared to contact us. If you want a discount please… Read more »
Do I like using alternative models in my armies? Hell yes. Unfortinatley as the only games I play right now are Flames and Malifaux I have little in the way of options for alternative models;) I will say that all ready most of my Malifaux McMourning crew are alternative models, be them from Reaper or Privateer Press (Undead construct, undead caninies and totems mostly but a couple Outcasts as well) IF I were still playing GW games and if I were running a deamon army I would be sorly pressed NOT to use this or another of thier minis in… Read more »
I have been trying to get in contact with Ultraforge but they have gone silent, no email on their site works and they dont answer comments posted on their site.
So whats up with them?
Could you do a showcase of their nurgle daemon and pleasure daemon, those are the two Id like to buy from them.
Will see if we can get our hands on them. In the mean time check http://huddersfield-games.com/ that’s where you can buy from.
or the warstore
http://www.thewarstore.com/ULTRAFORGEMINIATURES.html
which are always at 20% discount.
Huddersfield Games will match the warpstore prices.
Email and ask for a price match.
Thanks

Would be an excellent greater daemon of Khorne. Bit of work to extend the heft and throw and axe blade on and it would be perfect. Then again, if you were feeling adventurous you could do some green stuff work and make it into a good looking nurgle daemon…. although the pose would be odd for it.
nice centre peace for any chaos army
now this is a model 🙂 i’d use it in my chaos army
Thanks for all the extra info Owen.
I notice you stock most of the Ultraforge range but there are a couple of pieces, like the Tree Woman, which you don’t seem to have. Is that simply due to being sold out or are those models no longer avaliable?
well now i feel happy that i picked a good model for my first un-boxing, and i think we may have one or two more waiting to be put out so keep an eye out guys. 🙂
Great video! I do not have any plans to play in tournaments or official GW sponsored game events, so I have been looking at alternative models.
I will have a core GW army and if I change my plans, I could probably still put an army list of just GW models. But I think there are just too many excellent models out there to pass on them all.
I’m not trying to be a downer, but that resin model looks to me to have lots of air bubbles in it. It’s not pock marks just on the armor, you can see it in the loin cloth on the front and back and on skin as well.
It’s a nice sculpt, but if that’s the one being promo-ed, i am frightened to see what a normal one looks like.
That being said, it is a cool looking model.
tigernexus We do have treemen in stock. There’s been quite a rush today. Email us and we will let you know. Not all of the stock is online at one time. We keep a reserve stock for other purposes. Like local sale and on ebay. kennyog When I chose which models to send to Beasts of War I chose directly out of the box. I decided to minimise any issues with customers I would send a representative model. Hence the flash seen on the sword. I have an extensive collection of FW models and have worked a lot with resin… Read more »
Cool “mini”… However really shouldnt be used as a Deamon Prince as my 50 night goblins beats a DP in close combat… And that would be just sad for the chaos player to remove this one becase he got run down by gobbos ….. Greater Deamon though 🙂
Am I the only one who sees the small wings? They looks to be undersized for the model…? I keep picturing a baby sparrow flapping around the nest trying to lift off…..
Look Boobie’s!
My first Ultra forge model! it was great too work with great smooth skin but i think it was a miss mold there were some real bad mold lines i had too fix and even made the body kinda misaligned but I worked some magic and it turned out ok! I am going too buy more ultraforge
i think the tree lady great looking model!

I tried to post your pictures, but unfortunately they are too large. 🙁

I just placed my order with Huddersfield, got a pretty nice deal with their specials. Just email them and ask, they seem really friendly and happy to help.
If Ultraforge comes out with more models I will most definitely buy them from Hudders.
Is there something wrong with me to think about Hooters when I wrote Hudders….
GW should also provide their models with magnets x)
I bought the Pleasure Demon , and the Greater War Demon from a local hobby store called Strategies in Vancouver. It came in a cute little zipi-lock bag haha. The store owner said the person who sculpted this use to work for a GW store in one of the malls not too far from where I live. Apparently he plans to make a “Blood Bowlish” game. Or so I was told anyways.
As for stand in models, I’m totally for it. These Ultraforge mini’s are way superior to anything GW has put out to date.
They look great. I seen a few of them and would love to have one myself.
Thats an awesome model. The only problem with using alternate models would be playing in GW stores, but I’ve never done that sooo…
Resin really can look stunning.
I’ve got the Vrock and Greater War Demon both excellent quality models. The Netheraxe from heresy miniatures goes very well with the GWD and let’s face it Chicken-O-Doom vs Vrock = no contest!

Received my minis from Hudders yesterday, no problems at all 😀
They are washed and awaiting some touch ups before assembly, priming and painting.
