Flames Of War Unboxing: Kutusov’s Heroes & Red Banner – Comment To Win!
January 15, 2019 by johnlyons
John is joined by Freddy from Battlefront Miniatures as they check out the Kutusov's Heroes boxset and the Red Banner book for Flames of War.
We've got a copy of the Red Banner book AND Kutusov's Heroes boxset to giveaway, just comment below!
Kutusov's Heroes contains four plastic T-34 tanks, four plastic T-70 tanks, two Katyusha Rocket Battery Vehicles, two plastic Tank Commander sprues, one mini 4th Flames Of War rulebook, two Decal sheets, and eight Unit Cards.
The Red Banner book is the Soviet counterpart to the Ghost Panzer book we showed off previously and combines with Enemy at the Gates.
Will you be unleashing salvos from your Katyushas?
So in addition to miniatures and the army book what do I need to play? The v4 mid-war rule book ?
Yah if you don’t know the rules
At the end of the video John shows the rule book v.4 that is allready included in the set. You still need an opponent and certainly terrain to make your games more interesting.
For fluff relating to Kursk please read @oriskany ´s article series from last year. It´s more than worth it.
Is the rulebook same as the one released like two years ago along the free books You got if You had v3 rulebook ?
Never mind; just found the answer on the FoW website; the 1942-1943 is/will be compatible with v4 late war books etc.
Thanks for the mention, @jemmy . 😀
Gib all se tank to mir! ALLES MEINS! Gib! 😉
only if you stop punning … 😉
That wouldn’t be much fun now, would it? Also, I’ll never be caliph in place of the old caliph so I might as well throw puns and pretend that I want to win 😉
damn … I thought I could stop the punning machine 😀
Yeah we’re gona kick some german ass
There is nothing better than leading the Soviets under tge name of a emperial russian general.
How ever the set is awesome. Count me in in defending the motherland.
Great that the Katyushka is now plastic, i have a few metal that i never got around to building. I may get the plastics, make them and make the metal ones as wrecks.
one can never have enough katyushas 😉
another excellent review
Looks like a lot of work went into this set and book. Would be cool to win. Thanks for the opportunity.
I love these unboxings, I would have liked to have seen the assembled examples.
I can already hear the song in my ears,
“Расцветали яблони и груши…”
Those Katyushas look so badass!!
Don’t like the door windows but it’s probably workable when building these.
The t34 is one of my favorites tanks
Can anyone imagine, a horde of pink tanks…. ?
stop imagining … get painting 😉
We must make them afraid of the migthy pink army
i would love to win this lovely set!!! FoW is a great game.
The Models look great.
Enjoy this time period as the Russian and German tanks are close to equal. The t-34 and the panzer IV seemed to be well matched opponents. Both sides have light tanks and rocket launchers. This looks to be a well balanced force to fight the German starter set and again offers different units to add to your existing army or as a great place to begin your collection.
nice one lads. New information to me; thought all the way through the Russians had a much large force and at least twice the size of their western allies.
Just got done painting my German and American army… looks like it’s time to break out the paints again (and my wallet)! Well done guys!
Great to have more firepower on your side with those katyushas.
Like the loo of the T70. Great looking box set overall.
Can’t Wait to add at least one of these boxs to my Russians!
I’ve finally decided to start playing Flames of War this year, but haven’t decided to do WW2 or Cold War period. This looks like a god starter set, though the Panzer Ghosts should also be equally good.
In regards to your initial query aboput Kutuzov. Kutuzov was the Hero of the first Great Patriotic War (1812). He faced off against Boney at Borodino. Burned Moscow and and chased the Grand Armee out Russia. Also I think had a good record fighting the Turkish Empire as well.
I’d love to have some of Stalin’s organs in plastic!
do like the Russians like the idea of lots of infantry
classic, if in doubt add rockets and fire them all! in THAT general direction, if they hit the ground, it still counts as a hit!
