Flames Of War: Enemy At The Gates & Iron Cross Book Chat
August 24, 2018 by johnlyons
John, along with Freddy from Battlefront Miniatures, look at the new books for Flames of War covering the Eastern Front 1942-43.
Iron Cross covers the infantry and vehicles used by the German army during the Mid-War whilst Enemy at the Gates brings the Soviet Army to Flames of War.
Do you share John's opinions about the Valentine?
Bloody hell Justin’s changed – his hairs grown back…
While true the first 2 man turret version ( commander’s hatch forward ) of the T-34/85 was mounted on the standard 76 tank turret ring . When they changed the turret layout to a 3 man crew ( commander’s hatch about mid way ) they made the turret ring larger . Although for game play this is a moot point
looking forward to seeing more of these, great to see the troops appearing in plastic
I’ve just picked up my copies of Iron Cross and Enemy at the Gates and they are really excellent and carry on the development of the mid war period. I’ve been playing a DAK Panzer III based force for over a year now but really looking forward to putting together a Russian mixed tank force.
Can’t wait to see the new miniatures and how they play on the table
a great video boys.
Yeah, I’ve got Iron Cross and ordered Enemy At The Gates, but has anyone else noticed that errors are creeping in to some of the Battlefront books painting guides? I first noticed the Team Yankee Free Nations book giving wrong colours, but this one states the helmets should be DAK Sand, as if they accidently reused the text from the Afrika Korps book.
Great video.
I ‘m just getting into FoW. But I want to make a late war army for the germans. Is it ok to buy a older late war book or should I wait for new late war books to come out?
Even if I would not get into this one, I´d get the plastic Nebelwerfer. Finally Nebelwerfer that come together not only nicely, but also easily. Also this is good for the kind of games @oriskany suggested in his Kursk article series. And of course the fabulous Stalingrad ruins from 4ground. What a splendid combination of stuff.
Thanks, @jemmy – actually we did a very serious Stalingrad project on the site last fall for the actual 75th Anniversary of the battle (except we used Battlegroup, Valor & Victory and PanzerBlitz).
I think it is “lost” in the BoW 1.0 archives somewhere, but I have the original write ups and photos. Perhaps I’ll “resurrect” this and post it up in the new Projects area.
Oh yes, please. Za rodinu!
Cool. I’ll wait a little while before posting so I don’t distract from this new BF Stalingrad release.
