Yep he is a great model. This is the only Finecast i have bought to date. Again no casting problems except that the force rod was a little bent, fixed by some warm water. I painted him up as a Grey Knight and looks great. However unless you pick him up (as he is very light) you would be hard pressed to tell him apart from my other metal models. I would say the preperation time is about 3 times a metal model due to the large amounts of flash / sprue. One slip with the knife could ruin some… Read more »
Thats what i said, just clip the half bullets off and its all good. I might get one for my grey knights, its goodit comes with a window to check it befor i buy it
I’m 85% painting one for my Grey Kights. Sadly what I didnt notice before I started painting was that his wargear doesn’t match the mini. To change it you have to hack off the arm holding the staff and you cant use the combi-bolter.
If you look at the librarian’s stat’s and options he’s the only character who doesn’t have to buy his terminator armour and storm bolter/combi together. since the metal version of this has been around a while, I’m wondering if the rules to have him without a gun came first and they made the model with an empty hand or if when the codex was being written they said “that looks awsome… but it causes wysiwyg problems, Hey I know give him an option to go without the gun!” It doesn’t actually matter either way though. What does mater is that… Read more »
Yeah I kind of agree with that. I think in the end they sort of backed themselves into a corner by saying these models are the best in the world. THATS HUGE BALLS LOL!! I think if your going to say that, when they come up everything needs to be ferfect. Yes I know there are teathing problems. But they did say the best in the world. Greats big brass ones there. Anyhow, they do look good when ones comes out right. Maybe in 6-12 months there fail rate will be nearlly nill and there mix will be spot on… Read more »
£14.50…… *sigh*
this is one of the many reasons why I never bought the metal version of this one, i’d rather pay the $50 to get 5 terminators i can make characters out of, like the grey knights have like 4 characters u have to make with the terminator box, so why not just do the same principal. i also don’t like non-helmeted faces unless they are really well sculpted faces like Privateer Presses’ stuff
That page of the book on his shoulder where the giant sprue connected looks awfully rough.
Other than that, the end result looks fine.
Very beauty full model
I think there is a slight problem with the gun’s ammo? the ammo chain seems to get thinner towards the end
However, apart from that it is a very nice model
Sorry, discount my last comment.
I was half tempted to buy it, until I saw the price. NIce, but not £14.50 nice, especially when for 50p more you could of gotten a box of dark eldar troops for the same amount a few months ago….
I’m old enough to remember when £15 in GW would get me 5 regular terminators and the freakin’ librarian in termi armour. I’m not even talking about way back in the days of squats and zoats either, I mean about 8ish years ago in the middle to end of 3rd edition. Even accounting for inflation, GWs prices have at very least doubled in that time in real terms. Back then 20(yes they came on boxes of 20) guardsmen would set me back about 15 notes as well, according to various inflation calculators that box of cannon fodder and flash lights… Read more »
“he looks fine from the rear”
no comment
Show me A Finecast Terminator Librarian & A metal Terminator Librarian side by side.
Then I can tell you if Finecast is better then metal or not, so can every one else!
My Librarian went chaos because he constantly drops vortex blast on his own head.
Anyone else notice that last few videos have been abit jerky. Like there is some kind of lag happening when they have recorded them?
whats wrong with looking at models from the rear , my wife dragged me too london fashion week last year ,it was the one thing that made it worthwhile
Nice enough model. Worth about £7.50 compared to what else is out there from other companies though. Not £14.50. And as others have said, for that price I expect perfection, not something that is bendy and has potential bubble issues. One thing that amount of money should be paying for is spot on QC, particularly as this is a recycled sculpt.
Just found this on Wayland Games’ website:
http://www.waylandgames.co.uk/games-workshop/finecast-resin-models/cat_955.html
For now they aren’t stocking finecast as the failure rate (at least 55%) is too high for them.
I wonder if this is a start of a battle between gw and wayland??
if so- can either of them afford it?
i doubt it
I would say GW can … Not so sure about Wayland Games
Both can afford it – I am pretty sure that Wayland has been considering dropping GW since the change to the terms for shipping to Australia, and GW’s comments about online retailers – online retailers are freeloaders! Preventing GW from gouging as much as they want….
You know, I’m ashamed to say, I bought some finecast yesterday. The GW guy said negative feedback abount them is exaggerated lol. He said if there’s problem bring it back TO THE SHOP and he’ll replace it. He advised against calling up GW. Coteaz: 1 bubble under the model (covered up once on the base) Shaggoth: 2 very small bubbles, both on the underside out of sight. 5 Wracks: No issues as far as I can tell, £4.10 each which is actually reasonable Varghulf: 3 very tiny bubbles, 1 of them slightly cut off one of the spikes, one of… Read more »
well lets face it more peeps will complain about something than praise it i.e who says to the waiter theres no hair in my food
When are we gonna get to see a movie all about bases and the different sizes? Ive been waiting for a while! I NEED MORE BASES!
Should definitely get some unpainted but built finecast and metal models side by side to compare. I bought my first finecast model recently and its fine. It was much better to make than the metal, but for sure I’ve heard many complaints e..g Wayland
