As far as I know the whole concept of the Dark Marshal is from GW. In the books and films he’s just one of the seven nazgul without names (only the witch-king of agmar and khamul the easterling have names). Everything about him and the other six was made up by GW to fit the rules they wanted to give them so there would be a point to using nazgul other than the witch king and Khamul, and thus (the cynic in me says), sell die-hards 7 more models(and 7 more on fell-beasts if they thought they’d get away with… Read more »
mines called reg
aww, I wanted to see the heat test haha
So…Sam Gamgee is a Ringwraith?
Gumby and Pokey
if he’s called Sam, then clearly the horse is called Bill….
I like the look of Sam. Not sure what I’d use him for, but a cool looking mini none the less.
Would make a great wraith or Wight for D&D lol – but I do love the LotR’s sculpts, I think its a bit of an undervalued gaming system and seen as a bit sideline which is a shame.
Some of those LotR sculpts are rather nice and better than what there is for WHFB and WH40k becouse of that certain amount of realism.
I love the dragon from the LotR range – looks so badass. All of their wizards are pretty ace too.
most lotr= perry=awesome
Only the Witch-King and Khamul are named by Tolkien. The rest are made up by GW. I think its a decent sculpt, although I did want to see a heat test. The holes in the cloak are 100% not air bubbles, I have the metal one and they have the same holes in them.
Nice to see some LOTR 🙂
I think despite the stuff they made up – they did a pretty awesome job with the fluff of it, and the models for each of the Ringwraiths. I’d be interested to see them do a look at the new Fellowship box and some more of the LotR models.
Although it was an attempt to drag as much money out of the franchise as possible, the stuff they made up actually isn’t bad at all, and maintained interest.
i think its an ace model to be honest love the different types of ringwraths. there are 9 ringwraths that jrr tolkien created which were decieved by souron into having the 9 rings. they were once kings now they are twilight beings neither living nor dead. cazboaz is right in the fact that this ones and story and name is made up as they wanted to introduce a bit of variation into the nazgul. kamul was created by jrr tolkien and i think can be found either in his manuscripts, appendicies or in the silmarillion. at the time of the… Read more »
I think its a better model than Darrell gives credit for, but there was a glaring bubble for me that just looked out of place, despite the claim of it being intentional that one really doesn’t look intentional to me.
GW didn’t make up the names…
Iron Crown Enterprises’ Middle Earth Role Playing did. They other 7 were Khamûl; Er-Murazor (the Witch-king, of Númenórean race), Dwar of Waw, Ji Indur Dawndeath, Akhorahil (Númenórean), Hoarmurath of Dir, Adûnaphel the Quiet (female Númenórean), Ren the Unclean and Uvatha the Horseman, but none of these names come from Tolkien’s writings.
