Looks awesome but Mantic Weekend made me forget about GW dwarves for some reason *cough* price *cough* ease of build *cough* excuse me ^____^
I find your history lessons a nice touch in these videos, please keep doing it.
I agree, the history lessons are important, keep them up. This is a nice little kit. And looks fun to paint but… Go Mantic ! yay !
Didn’t one of the Perry twins lose his hand because of some smoldering powder not being dowsed by the rag? Just goes to show that you’re right about it being dangerous even for reenactors.
I don’t know the exact details but certainly it was an accident while loading a reproduction cannon.
GW’s Dwarfs have always interested me, I think they are superior to Mantic’s, and those history lessons are fun to listen
Thats an opinion which I will respect 😉
I’m not a huge fan of Dwarves in general (spent way too long playing greenskins) but I do love the actual cannon miniatures. I probably lean more towards Mantic for the actual dwarf models, but the GW cannon itself could be nice for a different kind of cannon alongside the Mantic one…more of a mortar or siege gun maybe.
Different tastes for different people. I like my Dwarfs to have legs not just feet.
I think both ranges are great, GWs Dwarves got really nice warmachinery and I love the High King model,
but GW uses the heroic-scale and Mantic a realistic-scale, which looks awesome in another way, I think they both suit another kind of taste
Agreed, more history lessons are always good, the more you know…etc.
How long till you have Warren dressed up as a cannon crewman I wonder?
don’t like the this model @ all, 4 me it looks cheep and don’t look as impressive like the old metal version.
The old metal cannon was a beautiful wee piece true enough.
Not seen the metal one.
Prefer the GW big cannon to the Mantic, but don’t mind so much the organ gun from the latter.
Am I right in thinking there are 2 guns in the Mantic box?
You can build either the cannon or the multi-barreled one from the kit but not both. Like GW’s.
Actually, the way the Mantic kit is set up, it appears that you can drop the cannon or organ gun in and leave it unglued. Or if you’re bold, magnetize it pretty quickly. You should be able to swap back and forth depending on how you want to field your artillery. That’s a plus to me. As an unabashed Mantic fan, I think their artillery & firearms look more like something I would expect from the finest engineers and best metallurgists in the world. Clunky, bulky designs are typically a result of over engineering and not really knowing what it… Read more »
You can do the same withthe GW on. The carriage is the same, so I don’t see any problem with magnetizing it, which isn’t much work actually.
we love the history lessons 😛 …..
….
….
…
o3o well i do any why
Can you show us your cannon ? 6 hours is a looong time I think 🙂
(Boltgun metal, a bit of dwart bronce, black wash and Devlyn mud works REeeeaalllly fast 😉 )
what’s great about this kit is that if you want to use it as either canon Just don’t glue all the main connector pieces together, but I think that the de=irections show you where to glue and where not to if you choose this option.
I actually sorta prefer the mantic cannon, but the GW organ gun, am I the only one that thinks that?
The smouldering powder thing has a little bit more relevance to us than you might think, IIRC it’s why Michael perry has a prosthetic right arm.
Me too ^___^
Aren’t Warhammer Empire cannons muzzle loaded? So Dwarfs get breach loading because Dwarf tech>Human Tech?
Yeah, Too bad that doesn’t show in the rules 🙂
I prefer Mantics single cannon (even if the GW one is very pretty), and the GW organ gun to Mantic’s because I think it looks alot more sturdy.
less of a reply to the difference between mantics, cannon vs gw’s cannon heroic vs realistic more a, how do the gw dwarf, mantic dwarf, and hey even the cannon from the empire’s army measure up in size comparison to the thunderfire cannon as an all metal is a head ache
john if you taught history i would’ve taken it for gcse, i personally like the history stuff, keep it up john 🙂
Things like “historical fact” is what separates BOW from other sites. Lets face it, anyone who takes the time to fuss over model kits and paint them up probably likes details and all sorts of little anal facts about everything (not that I find any of this anal, but people often tell me that I am). John knows his audience and communicates intelligently with them.
Don’t worry John, we appreciate being spoken to as adults and war enthusiasts!
This bit on the cannon is great!
The cannons are what made me start a Dwarf army.
I would like to hear more on using cannon effectively in battles.
