Wizards that shoot guns... even I'm interested in that!
Andy takes a look at one of the archetypal units that help identify the forces of Cygnar as the "shooty guys" of Warmachine... the Arcane Tempest Gun Mages.
Also included is the Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer, an extra model who can be added to the unit to increase its' abilities.

I posted this before… and I was going to put them in the video, but I said I was going to ink the models… but here’s my painted Arcane Tempest Gun Mages, plus the Ordic Pistoleer (from the Iron Kingdoms RPG minis range from Privateer Press) that I use as a proxy for the Gun Mage Officer.

Andy, just an idea (and tell me if you were planning things this way anyhow). You should keep your reviews to the models released in Prime. Sure people can buy the faction decks and get most of their factions rules and units…or the force book which has everything released so far. But a lot of people will start off with the big book and the units that it includes. By sticking with models from Prime it keeps things closer to the begins start point. Yeah… I’m trying to stick to the “basic stuff” for now. We’ll get to the fancy bits soon enough.
The next few vids will all be Prime models, but I want to do some Retribution too, just so they have been covered a bit.

Regarding the question which warjack to be marshalled by them: i think it depends on the size of the game. In general i think that the Cyclone and the Defender benefit more from the Rune Shot. But in small games you only have so many heavy warjacks, and when the enemy gets close you really want to pumb up your heavys with focus. In large games, on the other hand, you may have three or more heavys. And then the caster does not have enough focus anyway. I take a Sentinel, not for the Rune Shot (although that’s a nice surprise), but for the Shield Guard. The high DEF Gun Mages are all the more annoying when you can’t shoot them back without a warjack sucking up the hits. You can also field the Sentinel slightly ahead of the unit so that it blocks any charge made against the Mages, who can then shoot any enemy that engages the Sentinel in melee with Thunderbolt shots, pushing it away. Hunter is another good one to take..i dont know the new rules but it was in the old days, would like to see some ironfang pikemen if/when they get new kits,even tho i play cyg. i have 60 or so of the old pikemen.
Hate: gun mages..(but use caine as my main caster)LOVE! sentinels and trencher chain guns Even if they can’t kill any thing!!

I’m glad that PP is gonna resculpt the Gun Mages for Wrath. They are really old figurines which lack details and fine proportions.
Great unit though, included in most of the Cygnarian lists.
