Castellan Crowe – Character Breakdown
December 1, 2011 by beerogre
Is he the worst possible character in the Codex... or just the worst in the game. The lads discuss this Grey Knights character that makes his opponents better!
But what's your verdict?

i think they could of made a realy nice charecter (sorry if i got the spelling wrong) a super holy guy that can use a demon blade at it’s full power but no it gives the unit charging him furies charge and because of the blade he is a super loner.
As I see it Crowe is a 150 point tax on making a strike squad with halberds fearless for 1 point per model or a point off and fearless with hammers or falchions. The psilencer and psycannon cost the same, so they’re a wasted opertunity on purifiers, but a free incinerator might be worthwhile, cleansing flame would make them a good choice to fight big or multiple units and if you had them all with falchions for the extra attacks that would compliment them quite well but against one unit of marines or multi wound units like ogryns or tyranid… Read more »
dont forget that purifiers have twice as many attacks as the strike squad
so, i guess i got played on that last game of vassal…
i’ll get mine.
Wow! I totally missed the Independent Character thing. My god, he’s terribad… Although he does nuke Wraithlords with the Rapier Strike of 1+D3 I10 attacks that rend on a 4+.
i think think Logan Grimnar should just piss on the blade and let that be the end of him and his sword
I love the model… but no idea how I would use him, purifiers are great but this guy… meh
He is the Gabriel Seth of the Grey Knights. They share very simular rules. Maybe Seth trained him…
I have a use for him. A pretty awesome looking knight of the flame for your purifier squad or use him as a normal brotherhood champion.
But really he is a bit of a rubbish unit. He probably carrys the blade of antwyr because no one really liked him anyway and they thought it was a good idea to give him the sword because it gets him away from everyone else. Perhaps a flatulence problem?
Castellan Crowe kinda sucks with the special deamon blade. But I do find an ordinary brotherhood champion is pretty good especially since it can take down any other HQ in the game.
Say whatever you want about Crowe, want Purifiers as troops? You’ll have to take him. End of story.
I always play crowe and purifier spam. i cant make myself take strikes with 1 lousy attack, the pfiers are just too good. i’ve had 2! kill 10 yam stealers!
and crowe has earned his points a few(not all) times. stick him in an empty psyback that 4 psycannons arent using and send him out. he’s either a waste of shooting or a nasty surprise on your IC or MC. plus he can add an add’l flame to that assault.
my guy usually rolls pretty good and rarely disappoints.
the other side of my hq is always mordrak
I know this post is MEGA late but as I am getting back into WH40k, I recently picked up the GK codex. One rule for Crowe that I think is really good (but not sure if it makes him worth 150pts) is Heroic Sacrifice (which all Brotherhood Champions get) – Basically, when Crowe dies, roll a Psychic test, if passed, one single enemy in base contact is automatically killed along with Crowe with no saves of any kind allowed. If the test fails, remove Crowe as normal. I can see Crowe being used, firstly for Purifier squads, and secondly for… Read more »
