Andy gives us a look at the Cankerworm, a serpent-like character warjack for the Cryx faction of Warmachine and gives us his take on its impressive set of unique abilities.
Devious, dirty, and disgusting-looking… Another cryx great sculpt !
How does the Replication ability work, exactly ? Does it need to touch the enemy warjack or to destroy it to salvage the part, or is it a ranged ability ?
Is it possible to replicate a weapon you find really effective from one of your own Helljacks, so that you may have an impromptu two when you need it ?
just want to point out something about the name. two meanings for canker. either a desease in trees or a type of mouth ulscer. So this thing is basically a living (or maybe unliving since its cryx) gum desease or a venereal desease for trees. Wow I know some random crap.
In french, we have this expression “bouffer comme un chancre”, which means “to eat like a canker”… It means to eat a lot, too much, and it’s often disgusting to watch. I have no idea why we use the name of the venerial disease either… Hope this helps to figure out why exactly this is names “canker worm”, other than the obvious yuck factor.
If I remember the legends entry, the cankerworm is semi-sentient and spends it’s free time building nests out of wrecked warjack hulls and gorging itself on other scrap machinery.
When combined with Cryxian buff and debuff spells the armour piercing attacks of the Cankerworm & the Ripjaw become truely devestating. The base armour is halved so any spells or effects that add to or take away from armour are applied after it is reduced. So if pAsphyxious casts Scything Touch (+2 Strength) on the Cankerworm & Patasite (-3 Armour) on a target Arm 20 heavy warjack the Bite attack would be P+S 13 against Arm 7. That’s an unboosted damage roll of 2d6 + 6. An Arm 25 Devestator would be taking 2d6 + 3 damage! Also the immunity… Read more »

If you’re in b2b with a wreck you can pay 1 focus to salvage.
You can only get weapons from wrecks, but yes you could salvage a weapon from one of you own jacks’ wreck.

Great cryxian style sculpt plus nasty warjack.

I like this model but is seems odd that bits of it hang off the base for no good reason I can see
I think it could be a right pain to play against- well lets be honest cryx is full of tricks and is a pain in general
Great sculpt, great model. Definitely worth my 5 pts!
