Wild West Exodus: The Wayward Eight Unboxing!
August 13, 2014 by dignity
It's time for the second unboxing this week as Justin breaks out one of the cool plastic kits from Wild West Exodus! If you're a fan of Firefly then you won't want to miss out on this as it's the Wayward Eight, a cool steampunk version of everyone's favourite space cowboys!
These are currently on my commission table. They paint really easy and they look awesome. Some of the best plastics imho with great detail and poses. 🙂
I am also thinking of using some of these models in my Necromunda squad. Only missing a heavy weapon dude, but its easily fixed when using other WWX models. 😉
I didn’t pay much attention to the WWX Kickstarter. Shame on me as I missed this. I may have to get a set of these.
Missed them? these were only available during the ks campaign? lame.
That is my biggest complaint with the minis industry… all the minis i have like lately have been EXCLUSIVE and only available of you pledge 100s of money on other things you don’t even want….
No, they’re still available. I think the OP’s “I missed this” just meant “I wasn’t aware these existed”.
That’s it exactly. 🙂
I would prefer to have them in metal or resin, but made in UK or EU, those are made in CHINA. I don’t see the point on making them in plastic, when they are just few models.
Nowadays it’s so easy and cheap to go Chinese, but what a shame, having companies and professionals in our continent to do same job. If we all go low cost, we will get paid low cost….
Models look very nice thou. Great stuff anyway.
From what I hear another key factor why most companies go to china to produce their plastic minis has more to do with the size of the runs they need as opposed to the price. There are facilities capable of production in EU/US but their minimum run quantities are simply just far too high.
There is one UK miniature manufacturing company that has a fully kitted “workshop” that could offer to take on other companies’ production runs to generate some extra cash flow, but I seriously doubt they ever would….
Cool really like WWX!
Nice Minis! By the way: nice beard! 😉
Seeing these sprues I have a feeling that WWX, Malifaux & Kingdom Death are other done by the same people or the same designer or the same moulding company / factory.
Might be just me though.
They are done by wargames factory which also do the Malifaux stuff. 🙂
No wonder then!
Thanks for the intel.
They look great. Is other WWX stuff in plastic? I assumed it was all resin.
Got any tips on where to find out more about this game / line of miniatures? Yes, I know I could google, but I’m hoping for some more personal recommendations.
Wildwestexodus.com is their website.
All of the hired hands are plastic, the hired hands with heavy weapons and the wayward 8 are also plastic. I would love them to do more of the plastic miniatures, but the resins are still very nice imho, as my latest resin was the Courtright model, which only needed cleaning up where it was snipped away from the resin sprue. 😀 I am really hoping they make a plastic Iron Horse set, as 3 of the factions share the same chassis.
Those are really cool. A lot of the poses I’ve seen for WWX aren’t quite up to Malifaux standards, but these are great sculpts.
I can only agree! They look amazing, the detail and poses are all great. Really puts me in a mood to marathon some Cowboy Bebop or Briscro County Jr 😀
I liked these models from the start, but I hadn’t yet noticed the Firefly reference. That makes them even more desirable. Must … resist … shiny … syndrome.
All of the Wayward Eight crew also have some pretty cool abilities that help show their character well. Hicks Kincade buffs Heavy Support models, K-Free can fix things, Flowing River can assassinate people. Very fun and thematic.
