Apoc Survivors, Bolt Action Marines & EOTD Steam Exo-Skeleton!
April 30, 2014 by dignity
I think it's time for us to show off another awesome bunch of miniatures don't you? First up Warren and Alessio are looking at the U.S Marines for your American forces in Bolt Action followed by some Wargames Factory Apocalypse Survivors - namely the women!
We'll then be rounding things off with more Empire of the Dead and a look at the Steam Exo-Skeleton!

Okay, I’m not even going to lie . . . I don’t play Bolt Action but I might get those Marines for display. Some of my old gaming friends and I are former Marines, so items like this hold a special place. 🙂 I especially like the camouflage patterns on the helmets and NOT the rest of the uniform (too many paintings / figures camo the whole thing), which was more of a historical exception rather than a rule. NICE TOUCH with the guy with the soft cover (third from the right) instead of the helmet, the one Marine carrying… Read more »
Those Marines look like a huge leap forward over the Brits I’ve got. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Brits, but I’m particuarly envying the guns being attached to the hands. (I hesitate to use the words Lego hands as they do look good – they’re just fiddly for the sausage-fingered to assemble.) And 30 to a box, too. Lucky, lucky USMC!
That survivors kit looks a lot better than their male counterparts. Weapons look a lot more swappable – a real limitation of the old kit. The folds in some of the clothing still look a bit weird though.
Power loader conversion me thinks 😉
Marines – I want them, especially the starter army as it includes one of the plastic M3 halftracks. Fabulous kit, very good value for money (30 guys – are YOU LISTENING GW?) s for Justin’s question, why would you want a scope on a large calibre revolver , well .44magnum and above have great range and muzzle energy so they can be used for quite accurate target shooting and hunting to long range – 50 yards is easy, 100 yards plus is possible with a rest and some guys have gone further. You can find a lot of it in… Read more »
Picked up a box of US Marines and a (resin) Sherman last month and have put together a 1000pt vets list from those alone – £50 for a 1000pt army isn’t something you hear everyday in this hobby!
Feels kinda weird watching this listening to Alessio talking about building all your command and special units as well from this kit, knowing that’s exactly what I’ve done 🙂
YES! They included the .10 gauge trench gun! I saw it carried by the third guy from the left but it’s hard to be 100% sure in the photo, went to the Warlord website to confirm. Awesome touch.
Anyone got a link to this halloween zombie thing?
The Steam Walker is my most favourite model in my collection. Not for the faint of heart, the impatient or noobs, but what a glorious result.
I have both of the survivor sets, and they look fabulous…
…until you actually try to build them.
They appear to have lots of choice, but the figures are overly dynamic (especially the bodies posed for overhead swing) and it can be very difficut to use the “wrong” arms with a body resulting in really spastic poses. Also the parts are not labeled in any way, so even finding the arms that work with the child and the “hungry” bodies is something of a chore…
…but these kits are still among the best choices for obtaining modern civilians.
I’m a little unfamiliar with Bolt Action, so maybe someone could help me out here … are there rules / lists for the vastly expanded capabilities of WW2 Marines (specifically, their firepower) through the different time periods of the war? Early war, mid war, late war kind of thing? I understand that all armies progressed during the war, but the Marines that hit beaches like Iwo Jima and Okinawa bore NO RESEMBLANCE to those at Guadalcanal (even the uniforms were drastically different which would affect painting – and I’m not even talking about the Pearl Harbor-Midway Marines that still wore… Read more »
Those Marines make me want to start Bolt Action…..
