Bolt Action 2.0 Unboxing: Band Of Brothers Starter Set
September 16, 2016 by dignity
Justin and John get excited as they Unbox the new Band Of Brothers Starter Set for Bolt Action 2nd Edition by Warlord Games.
This is a great set pitting the US Airborne (who are new shiny plastics!) against the German Grenadiers in France during the invasion of Europe.
As well as the miniatures you get everything you need to play Bolt Action. Watch to find out what's in the box!

Will you be picking this up?
This looks brilliant and actually adds on perfectly to the assault on Normandy, original starter set. Very excited to get into the second edition.
Oh yeh and those pin markers!!
That was awesome guys! The new Bolt Action 2 Starter set looks even better than I thought. I am committed now to getting this set and having mates over to finally try a bit of WW2 gaming. Bolt Action has always been on my ‘one day list’ and your review has made up my mind. This is an excellent product release for getting new players into Bolt Action. 🙂
So jealous right now as I am still waiting for mine to arrive. I’ll definitely convert my Airborne to the ever so iconic D-Day ones tho..its simply a must do for me. Concerning a guide for splinter camo look here: http://www.beastsofwar.com/eventslist/bolt-action-project-vlog-building-wwii-armies/ Scroll down and find the how to do Fallschirmjäger Camo. Just use German Camo Beige instead of Green Grey and Bob is your uncle.. 😎 Finally we can recreate all those glorious moments of the TV show on the Bolt Action battlefield in all plastic 😎 😎 A true masterpiece starter box from Warlord Games imho. Btw, the release… Read more »
My starter set (prize) just arrived, looks like my Friday night just planned its self.
1st plastic set with weapons attached to arms was the Blitzkrieg German Infantry . The Japanese and Fallschirmjager also are molded that way . All sets do give you some weapon less arms as well , for those of us who want create are own poses . Not building US forces at the moment , but will pick up a single sprue or two as body parts for conversions
Looks mighty fine. Almost tempted but my BA2 rule book should be here next week along with a box of Soviet infantry. I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
US Airborne with some conversion work could make good Totencorps. Why let all those dead bodies go to waste?
Just heard the Starter Sets are sold out temporarily!!
Looks like a good product is still appreciated 😎
Only I’ve got to wait a couple of weeks longer 🙁
Arrgh.
Warlord seems really onto a winner with this!
Total agree with John what a great starter set, got the tank battle box a few months ago this should go well with that
Got mine a few days ago and already built the airborne. And I’m a little bit twisted. Don’t get me wrong it is a great starter set. The value you get is impresive. And the quality of the minis and the sculpting is excellent. Only that nearly all weapons only go together with a single arm and at a specific angle at the shoulders limits the possibilities for posing quite a lot. If you use another arm or another angle at the shoulders you get gaps. So I had to fill quite a lot with green stuff, because I wanted… Read more »
It does look great, good unboxing and I do agree with John about it having the right amount of stuff to be the “right” starter.
Now if my book would just get here! Off to stalk the postman 🙂
@bothi
Yep, that’s the downside when having the weapons attached. Just like @dignity I’d prefer them separate like they were to begin with. Unfortunately too many of us complained..
So we’ve lost a bit of the main advantage plastics offer, the customisability,
But hey, one can’t have everything I suppose 😉
Sometimes stalking the postman pays off BA2 has arrived in the company of a T-70 🙂
I am in Central Fl USA so check those mail boxes!!!
Just opened my starter set and instead of the ruined farm house it came with a ruined town house with its own base (cobbles, sand bags and all). Could be new terrain is on the horizon
@lug45
It appears my set didn’t include a ruined farm house either. It’s a ruined something with a large base. Anyone else?
Looks fantastic and I agree with John’s sentiments about making the assembly of any starter set as simple and clear as possible.
I have the older Sdkfz 251/10C with the white metal PaK36… aka the Doorknocker
a nice looking box of units guys.
Wandered over to my FLGS just intending to have a look around after dinner. A group was playing Beyond the Gates of Antares, so after watching that a bit, I got around to looking at the new releases in the store. I saw a Kings of War Movement tray set (picked up the last one) and then to my surprise, there on top was the new Bolt Action 2 Starter set (that too, was the last one – other than those who pre-ordered. Those were set in the individuals boxes behind the counter). After chatting with the owner a bit,… Read more »
went to my local hobby shop today and they had them in stock but coudnt sell it to me unti tomorrow….. so i wait
What a great looking set! Can’t wait to get mine.
IF there are no SS decals then why are there two license plate variants ?
One of which clearly has the ‘ss’ designation.
At lest I think there’s no way Germans write the letter ‘s’ like that on their license plates if they didn’t intend it to be a reference to the SS…
The Wehrmacht and SS both used the same shaped licence plates. The Wehrmacht ones usually began WH and the SS ones began, well…erm SS . Who would have thought!

What primer was used?
As a long time Bolt Action player with several armies, I was really looking forward to the second edition. Now that I’ve seen it though, it seems like they have made a bit of a mess of it. First edition had some some flaws such as recce but on the whole and for a first stab it was great. Now though, with the seriously downgraded recce rule, armies such as LRDG will be very difficult to play. The different HE rules, depending on whether you target enemies in the open or in buildings, make no sense when compared with each… Read more »
