Army Painter Unboxing: Mega Paint Set
November 29, 2016 by dignity
John sits down with Romain once more in the painting studio to unbox Army Painter's latest Mega Paint Set.
This set is perfect for those wanting to dive into miniature painting, we personally feel that the beginner boxes don't have that much variety among their paints to fully allow the beginner to vastly improve their technique. We would love to see more of these boxes on the market as we believe these are the better value for money and a fantastic start to your hobby.
Includes:
- 50 Warpaints; 39 Acrylic Warpaints, 5 Metallic Warpaints, 4 Quickshade Washes and 2 Effects Warpaints,
- 1 Triangular handled Regiment Brush
- 1 The Army Painter Painting Guide
What do you think of the Mega Paint Set?

In the words of the Red Hot Chili Peppers…

I seriously need this!
Lovely. I could do with one of these to fill out my core paint sets and chuck away my older, dry ‘pot’ paints by GW.
I received mine on Saturday as an early xmas prezzy to myself. I have wanted a complete set of paints for ages and I can highly recommend this set… So many cool colours…
I definitely agree on those silly ‘6 colour’ starter sets when it comes to a good all-round paint set.
However when painting specific armies a limited set is nice to have. The army specific sets for Flames of War WW 2 factions and (to a lesser extent) Warmachines/Hordes come to mind.
This is the set that I won, and now I’m even more excited about getting it, now that I see what is inside.
I definitely agree that the 100% match between the paint pots and the spray cans is the best thing in the world.
can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait
great point about the size of the set. that sweet spot between not having the colours you need and having so many you don’t know where to start.
when i first got back into painting i went for P3 because it was a manageable size.
of course if your name is Jen Haley then your starter set would be about three paint pots.
a great paint set with probably 99% of the painters needs in the one box.
My dream set!
Looks like a fantastic set. Also really agree that this is what could or should be considered a “beginner set”.
I also wanted to say that I think John and Romain together is a great combination for the unboxings. I like their presentation and I think with time they would find quite a natural style which would be really good to watch.
