Fickle Dice Games Take To Patreon With Gloom Trench 1926
March 4, 2022 by brennon
Fickle Dice Games is a new company that has popped up on Patreon in order to produce miniatures and game rules for their Weird World War game, Gloom Trench 1926.
Riflemen // Gloom Trench 1926
The first set of miniatures that have been worked on are these Riflemen. They have that distinctly World War I feel to their design but with that added twist that moves them towards the "Weird" side of things.

The bodies and arms come together and then the heads can be swapped out as you see fit to make the different Riflemen in your platoon. All of the miniatures are available as STL Files and come in 28mm scale. They are also planning to release a set of 15mm miniatures in the future too.

I really like the look of the miniatures that we've been seeing so far from Fickle Dice Games. It's early days for the range but I am all for more Weird World War options out there on the market, especially those that focus more on World War I.

If you're interested in seeing how these miniatures look when painted up, Fickle Dice Games has put together a Project here on OnTableTop! They have been showing off the printed miniatures and some finished, painted miniatures too.

Great looking stuff I would say! The prints seem to have come out very nicely and the painting matches the theme and aesthetic of Gloom Trench well too. I think these could be a lot of fun, especially for those who want to play Historical wargames with a bit of something different sprinkled on top.
Gloom Trench 1926 Game Rules
As well as the miniatures, Fickle Dice Games are also working on a Platoon/Company level wargame. The Stress system they have planned means that you can push your soldiers to the brink.
The game also features the Incursion mechanic which introduces a reality-bending AI-controlled force called the Scourge into the game. The rules are still in development as of writing but Patreons will be able to feed their ideas into the process and help with the development of the game.
More artwork and lore is on the way, of course, which will help to build the world.

Oh why must you tempt me so.
These do look very good
Love the look of these. Interesting to see some WWWI, rather than the usual WWII!
Ooh that’s a fabulous looking set of figures to get gaming with.
These are really neat; I have been wanting to get those great plastic WWI minis from Wargames Atlantic, this is certainly making that urge stronger. This looks to be a really unique and interesting setting! Coupled with that other post about that Osprey Blue Wand airships combat game, my gaming idea wheels are spinning – and they haven’t done that since before Covid started!
Looks like a picked a good day to randomly pop back on the site!
Very cool, could be used for a fantasy diesel punk setting as well.
Swanky figures. Doom and gloom makes me happy
