While the tournament may now be over I thought I would take you through the forces I eventually decided to run with for the event. I had reached that point where I can do no more painting and my Bauhaus models – such as they are – had to be packed up in readiness for the drive to the tournament.

Painted Bauhaus

A few of the models look okay...mostly the ones I brought close to completion just so I could be sure how the colour scheme would look, but the rest of them are sporting rather functional base colours.

At times like this, it is hard not to appreciate the genius of an army sprayed black, and dry brushed entirely silver. That will teach me for playing Bauhaus instead of Cybertronic!

I can (and will) do more to them now the event is over, but this is what I took with me...

List #1

  • Custom Venusian Ranger Warlord (Tech)
  • 1x 7 man Hussar squad with squad leader upgrade, ARG-17 missile launcher and the Sandbag Equipment doctrine
  • 1x 6 man Hussar squad with ARG-17 missile launcher and the Sandbag Equipment doctrine
  • 1x 5 woman Etoiles Mortant squad with a Gehenna Puker flamethrower
  • 1x Bauhaus Artillery Korp squad with two gun teams, two gun upgrades and two extra Hussar crewmen
  • 1x Vulcan Walker with the Reactive Armour Plates and Reinforced Rear Plating doctrines

List #2

  • Custom Venusian Ranger Warlord (Tech)
  • 1x 7 man Hussar squad with squad leader upgrade, ARG-17 missile launcher and the Sandbag Equipment doctrine
  • 1x 6 man Hussar squad with ARG-17 missile launcher and the Sandbag Equipment doctrine
  • 1x 5 woman Etoiles Mortant squad with a Gehenna Puker flamethrower and the Sandbag Equipment doctrine
  • 1x Vorreiter squad (2 bikes) with the Blitzkreig and Sandbag Equipment doctrines
  • 1x 5 man Venusian Ranger squad with 2 ARG-17 missile launchers and the Sandbag Equipment doctrine

In Part Seven I will wrap things up by going over my overall strategy for the two lists as well as the two card decks I have assembled to support them. Before that, there is one more thing in the tournament pack that we need to cover – the Hidden Agendas.

Hidden Agendas

After seeing your opponents lists, at the start of each mission each player may secretly select a Hidden Agenda from a pool of six listed in the tournament document and successfully completing it by the end of the game will net the player an extra five mission points.

The catch is that each Hidden Agenda can only be selected once! Thus, it can be a good idea to match the Hidden Agenda with a suitable mission to make it easier to fulfil. We have...

Bauhaus-Artwork

1) Head Hunt: Kill the enemy Warlord before the end of the game.

With Warlords providing most of the resource cards used during the game, players tend to focus on the enemy Warlord anyway so this is a good choice if you don’t have a more suitable Hidden Agenda, or if there is something about your opponents Warlord that makes him an urgent target.

2) Invasion: Have at least one squad in the enemy Deployment zone when the game ends.

This is a good Hidden Agenda to pick if you find yourself playing Mission 5: Linebreaker or Mission 7: Reconnaissance as both players will find themselves moving around the table a lot in order to complete the actual mission objective.

It is also a good choice if you have lots of units with Rapid Deployment, or a unit that is very survivable (Mortificators, for example). If the squad looks like it is taking too many casualties and is in danger of being wiped out, you can always run that squad up to the enemy deployment zone and hide there!

3) Annihilation: Destroy three enemy Squads by the end of the game.

A good Hidden Agenda choice where the main objective already requires you to kill a certain number of enemy squads in order to prevent them from winning (such as Mission 4: Retake the Field, or Mission 5: Linebreaker if you are the defender).

It is also a good choice where both players are forced to have most of their squads in close proximity to each other (Mission 1: The Advanced Base or Mission 6: Take and Hold).

4) Blood Feud: Choose one enemy Squad Commander and kill him in close combat before the game ends.

A natural fit is Mission 2: Head of the Snake since you have to kill the squad leaders anyway although if you have a ranged force, I would only suggest taking this Hidden Agenda if you have at least one squad with Rapid Deployment who are somewhat reliable in close combat.

Also remember that the Warlord counts as a squad leader, so if you have already used Head Hunt in the tournament and assassinations are your thing, this is also a good choice.

5) Glory Hound: Choose one of your Squad Commanders, keep track of every enemy model he kills. He must kill at least six enemy models before the game ends.

If you have a very killy Warlord then this is a general purpose choice that is good for any mission.. but if your Warlord is more defensive, this is a tough Hidden Agenda to fulfil unless you have a solid vehicle with either a high rate of fire or decent template weapons.

The reason for this is simply the speed with which the Squad Commander can rack up the kills compared with his anticipated lifespan; most commanders in Troop type squads simply don’t put out enough attacks – or have special weapons – that would allow them to kill more than 1 -2 models per turn and a Squad Commander who dies on turn three with 5 kills to his name earns you nothing.

6) Destined For Greatness: Choose one of your Squad Commanders. This model must be alive when the game ends.

If your list has a reasonably tough vehicle squad – or if you just have a very evasive Warlord – this is a good choice on any mission except perhaps Mission 2: Head of the Snake since your opponent will be actively seeking out your Squad Commanders anyway.

Venusian Ranger

That’s it for part 6 and the significant parts of the Warzone Resurrection tournament pack. We'll be back next week with a round up of how it all went!
