Great program and a great way to get these done.
After looking at some source material and comparing to images of what people think thatch looks like, I see the dilemma you had with how straight the edges etc should be. Real thatching is almost perfect every time and what people expect is what in the American west was more of a sod roof look.
Keep up the good work.
That’s a splendidly well-trimmed bush. Well done lads.
thatching the roofs great for variety.
Lookin’ shmick boys!
With painting the thatch, if you didn’t have the sprays would dry brushing it on work for the highlight layers?
Definitely, use a big brush for even surface area. The spray just makes it a lot easier and saves some time.
Ah cool. Cheers 🙂
My 6 year old son had to make a Tudor house for his great fire of London project. We used dried pine needles for the thatched roof. Looked really good and you can trim the needles to the same length. Took ages to stick on though.
I would post a picture but all the houses from his class were put together in the play ground and were then set alight to demonstrate how the fire would have spread. School has changed a lot since I was there….
A picture of the ash would have been fun to see regardless 😛
A video of the fire would have been better!
Do the scouring pads take to being dyed? Soak overnight in a dark brown fabric dye solution, dry, then paint?
