August 15, 2014 by brennon
The world of Warmachine is getting creepier and darker as the rules for the Cephalyx are now available via the PPDigital outlet of Privateer Press! Will you be joining these mind-bending creatures?
Inside you'll find...
• The potent warcaster Exulon Thexus and his vicious theme force, Will of Darkness
• Rules for Cephalyx warcasters, Monstrosities, and the Cephalyx Mercenary Contract: Puppet Masters
• New units and solos including the Drudge Mindbenders and the Cephalyx Agitator
• A modeling and painting guide to help you prepare your forces for battle
• All new fiction and background material detailing the history of the cephalyx and their terrifying agenda
...and so along with those awesome miniatures you have quite the interesting new faction.
Will you be downloading this one?
Oooh, interesting. When the Cephalyx were revealed I assumed it was just a new wave of Cephalyx releases – I didn’t expect them to get their own faction book and everything.
If it sells well then it gets its own book is the logic that I would go by.
Does this count on a Standalone army?
No, the Cephalyx are a mercenary contract. You can use Mercenary Cephalyx models, a handful of Cryx solos, and also you can take one non-Cephalyx mercenary unit (although you have to attach a specific Cephalyx Unit Attachment to do so).
I guess thay can be standalone army now…
Depends on your definition of ‘standalone’, I guess, but I wouldn’t say so.
They’re a mercenary contract with *one warcaster*. If you’re heading to a tournament that requires two or three lists, only one of those can be Cephalyx for now, with the other list(s) having to come from another mercenary contract.
If the Cephalyx models get a physical printing, it will be as part of a Warmachine expansion – PP would need to massively expand them to warrant having a physical book to themselves, and that doesn’t seem likely.
Love their story and way of thinking, they have a very fair society in 100% merciless way and the fight against all the gods that try to control them. I would definetely buy them but there is a few options right now but i can play them as an army or attach a few of them on my Cryx Army so is a win*2 situation.
I’m getting that book! Liked the look of it from the beginning. I already have a few drudges and a few suitable Cryx solos. So it shouldn’t be too much of an investment. Hopefully.
