The Warmachine: Tactics Kickstarter Launches!
July 10, 2013 by brennon
The Warmachine: Tactics Kickstarter has begun! You can now delve into the world of Immoren where Warjacks and Warcasters duke it out on the battlefield, virtually. In conjunction with WhiteMoon Dreams Privateer Press have created an awesome looking game.
You will be able to get your hands on both the single player campaign which charts the successes and failures of Lt. Allison Jakes. When your bored with that you can head online with both Cygnar and Khador (and then more with stretch goals) and duke it out in multiplayer modes both instant and play-by-mail. A nice little feature I think!
You'll be able to pledge and get your hands on alternative skins, digital rulebooks and guides and much much more. My favourite is this though...
One of the biggest rewards for Kickstarter backers is that they are going to get their hands on limited edition sculpts for the factions within the Warmachine universe. The first of these is the star of the trailer, Lt. Allison Jakes for Cygnar.
She has her own story within the game and you will have plenty of twists and turns to enjoy as you play. As well as Jakes though each of the factions is going to get a special Kickstarter reward caster. The list is below along with some pictures...
- Cygnar – Journeyman Warcaster, Lt. Allison Jakes
- Khador – Kovnik Andrei Malakov
- Protectorate of Menoth – Initiate Tristan Durant
- Cryx – Aiakos, Scourge of the Meredius
- Mercenaries – Gastone Crosse
- Retribution of Scyrah – Elara, Tyro of the Third Chamber
It's going to be fun seeing how they all work on the battlefield. In addition to the special nature of their release these first sculpts will only be available to Kickstarter backers. They will see a release in the future with alternative sculpts but you will be the proud owner of one of these special edition figures if you pledge.
Talking of seeing how they work you can download a special No Quarter Kickstarter Special Issue to find the statistics for all of the casters.
It's looking good and right now they are already powering through in terms of funding!
Will you be pledging?
So that’s $100+ from me then…
Heh, I hear you. Its a turn based tactical combat game for the PC so thats an automatic sale for me.. and while I don’t care for alternative in-game skins I can’t say no to more warcaster minis!
$205 here if i can get the cash together
So Allison Jakes is her name and she does get her own model after all althought she won’t be leader caster but journeyman caster charachter instead. Besides of her I do like Elara and Andrei Malakov.
There are no early bird pledges, so there is no rush i guess, but I can see me jumping on this battle wagon. Just for the miniatures and the hope I can get my head around the Warmachine rules for the tt game. 🙂
Welp, that’s $230 pledged, and probably another $25 for the ebooks and parts to make both versions of Sturgis…..
Hmm…I might pledge. I love the setting and the looks of many of the models, but the actual gameplay was always dimnished for me by how much meta you have to keep in head at all times. With the “engine” hidden in a computer game, it should be much more manageable and pleasant I hope.
And a thought occurs: if this is a success (and early signs are positive), then I would imagine this time next year a campaign launching for Hordes Tactics with a crop of backer exclusive trainee Warlocks….
And I would be totally, totally fine with that 🙂
Matt Wilson Said it would probably be two years before we see Hordes Tactics, but it is something they want to do. No word on if they will run a kickstarter for it though since wm tactics sales could likely help cover costs of development.
Oh poo!
Why now. I’ve already got shedloads invested in other pledges.
Get thee behind me KickStarter.
I dropped a wedge for the War Chest.
Love me some Chest 😉
What I liked was the ability to put your own symbol in the multi player game that they render for you…. Yeah its the small stuff that gets my attention
Why are they using such an outdated engine? Why are the animations, textures, shadows and effects so sloppy? As much as I want a Warmachine game, I don’t know if I can put my money behind a substandard product.
Also they changed their core game structure from a 3rd person action game to a turn based strategy. This means they lost a ton of time/money already in the developmental process, and are probably begging for whatever money they can get trying to recycle 3D assets. Sorry, this is a “no”.
>Why are they using such an outdated engine?
Hopefully it means it will run on all machines, not just top-spec like too many modern shooters and such…
It better be, thanks to consoles slowing down graphic innovation even a regular PC from about five years ago should handle this without breaking a sweat.
Heh, even my slightly upgrade rig from 7 years ago can handle a lot of todays games with reduced settings.
so by my math its: 1+20+20=41 bucks to get just 2 of the limited minis, correct?
@Midas, no, you’ll have to pledge $40 a for one limted edition miniature and then add $20 for the other and (if your outside the US) $25 for shipping. Two of the new solos would cost you $60 or $85.
To clarify further; the add-on miniatures are only available from the $40 level upward.
that/those cryxian fella(s) looks awsome
Goddammit, I knew they’d put in physical rewards to suck in the extra bucks. Me want all 7 toy dollies!
Honestly I don’t give a flying firetruck about “gold skins for warjacks”
My poor, poor credit card….
Yeah I know the feeling. naybody seen using the skins in multiplayer is so definately not going to get called a knob-end. lol
Must … resist… Must… resist… Must… res… Must… have… figures…
I know that feel, bro. At least I can save on postage with more minis and I can even use all but one of them … … … PP expertly suckered me in with exclusives, dangit!
I really wish they hadn’t started this…
The more I look at it, the less I like the pose they have chosen for Jakes. It looks like she was supposed to be an archer and they swapped her bow for a pair of swords at the last moment. Combined with the change to the size and shape of her armour plates versus the artwork.. I dunno.. it just doesn’t seem quite graceful enough.
Just pledged but can only afford the one mini option…arghhh too many choices 😛
they just made shipping in the eu, uk and canada cheaper
UK, EU, and Canadian shipping costs were reduced in updates 4 and 5.
This looks like a fun game.
Well within 37hrs they already hit their target so this is happening, now onto the stretch goals…
I got my name on 4 of the models and the game.
And some impatient fella made some Kickstarter Avatars

I’m as all-in on this as I can get! All the limited the chest?! YES – thank you!
Play by Mail? Oh – that’ll help when my buds are deployed around the globe!
ROCK ON! 🙂
Great that it is now shipping from Cerberus in the the UK so only $8 if you are at any level that has 1-8 minis included…..and no VAT or import duty to pay either.
