Well, it’s Star Wars so obviously I approve. As for the bases, I think they would look great on on clear round bases so that you can see the sand beneath them.
Scrapped your Mad Max plans?
You know I can’t tell if Lloyd’s trolling or if the stress of the Bootcamp has gotten to him….
Oh and just base them on those GW flight bases. Just use the base and not the clear rod thing. Or you can base them on MDF bases.
Flying stands for the Podracers would look best. And then you could call them models, now they’re just toys. 😉
Are we going to see the return of Hobby-lab? I miss that show, it contained really useful tips on terrain making.
Can’t wait for the new Infinity week next week! 😉
A photography tutorial I think would be a great idea.
You could show people how to take pics of their mini’s using simple techniques that anyone with a camera phone and a sheet of paper could pull off.
To more advanced things involving Digital Camera’s, tripods, setting up correct lighting,
and even what camera settings to use.
As it’s always a shame when someone paints a beautiful mini, yet you cant see it because the pictures awful.
plus how to get a nice crisp picture at less than 0.7 meg.
I do love me an Infinity Week.
1 – flying bases definetely,
2 – Infinity week – yes please,
3 – are you going to release more warzone stuff?
4 – hobby lab please.
5 – its great that Romain will do more videos expanding 3up colour to new stuff.
Yay more Hobby Lab… looking forward to that…. but I was just wanting to ask is there an Infinity week next week?
@Warzan mentioned the podrace, sounds like a great idea and I’m really looking forwards to the Infinity week that Carlos couldn’t tell us anything about *wink wink*
Could we combine Infinity week with hobby lab? I would love to see some tips or “how to” paint the MDF terrain that is used so often in infinity. I’ve heard so many different methods some even saying not to do the previous method that I’m not sure how to start and risk ruining the mdf kits I just bought.
I just finished my painting up my first piece of MDF terrain from Walt’s recent Impudent Mortal KS. I can’t tell you if any of my steps are vital because like you, I didn’t want to risk doing something that could ruin it.. but I: 1) Used fine sandpaper to take care of any rough edges and wet-sanded and flat areas that weren’t smooth or had some texture due to excessive supergluing on my part. 2) I primed the MDF with a mixture of Zinsser BIN Primer-Sealer & Stain Killer (as recommended by Antenocitis Workshop) and Methylated Spirits (not recommended… Read more »
Yes Lloyd I started a thread on “how to photograph miniatures” in Hobby. There are already many brilliant suggestions from the ones that when you hear them you go “Durr that is so obvious why the heck didn’t I just think of doing that anyway. To light sources etc from extremely knowledgable people the likes of James Evans amongst others, (unsurprisingly Oriskany’s tight in wing man. “You could fill an entire show of an hour or more just discussing what they discuss you know and I bet John has these sites up just to digest. LOL). Anyway to anyone out… Read more »
Awesome idea. I actually bought a complete set of the pod racers to do exactly that but I have never gotten to it.
You took the most drawn out and overdone part of Episode 1 and made it cool. Sweet!
Ermagerd. The cinematography was reminiscent of Blair Witch more so than usual. “Justin come here!” “Justin back up!” etc… It doesn’t help that I am working on my second IPA. -Pod Racers. You don’t need much to put it off of the ground. Maybe magnetize the pods and the flight stands so you can change elevation? -Bins. Lots of bins. You guys should see about a cargo container in the carpark. It’s close! It’s water tight (we hope)! -Photography is funky. You need a digital camera that has aperture settings so you can adjust the depth of field and manual… Read more »
Be interesting to see what you do with the pod racers. It looks like the wheel arrangements are reasonably well hidden when they are on the board. Maybe just colour code and dust them to match the board.
hmmmm the city board is out, interesting
Yes that canyon looks exactly like the podracing scene in episode 1, but that in no way makes it sound like a fun thing to game. That scene while better than much of the surrounding movie, was still Bantha Poo-Doo. Game the death star trench battle if you are going to game a star wars scene if you have chase/racing itch to scratch. Or is all this just a joke referencing Jake Lloyd’s (young Ani) recent arrest, which I believe was driving related?
I am a bit confused, is there an Infinity week next week?
yeap, super secret themed week that Carlos and the guys were working on before we stumbled in to knock stuff over. Exciting times and big news on the way watch this space.
…… and by this space I mean the front page of the site =)
I Have a suggestion for the podracing game: Place visual markers along the course dressed as track lights or signs that identify the coming section as an area of increased or decreased hazard.
Also if you adopt an x-wing style maneuver template method then you should use standardized bases for your pods.
