Pain is sometimes necessary!

In my last article on the new releases from Privateer Press, I mentioned that some models really need an update.
Well... here's one... Master Tormentor Morghoul for the Skorne faction of Hordes.
The original version of this model is available in the Skorne Warpack starter box, but to be honest, it's a bit flat. By which I mean the pose of the models isn't very "action packed".
I'll be making a video on the Skorne starter set shortly, but until then, feast your eyes on the new variant model for Morghoul... it's a vast improvement... but you won't be seeing it in the box.
... and just to whet your appetites, we have these currently winging their way to us for review...
I can't wait to get stuck into them!
But, what do you guys think? Do you like the Skorne, or are you put off by their puppy-kicking antics?

I love the skorne backstory, as well as their playstyle. I had to choose between them and menoth however, and was scared away by huge metal bricks with gaps for titans. The might very well become my second faction in the future though. This Morghoul sculpt really does look nice.
Yeah, I have three Titan models and they do take a lot of filling to get them game-ready.
The Cyclops you get in the starter set aren’t easy either, their arms come in 3 bits that you need to attach to the shoulder, then connect to the weapon… pretty fiddly… although they are brilliant in game.
I have 4 of them to run with my Makeda build, alongside my Cataphract Arcuarii.
They have a Cracking animus.

The Skorne are so over the top and campy… Very Rocky Horror ! I wish they would do some in resin.
Or PVC or LEATHER 😉
You better believe it…
These guys always remind me of the Maggs from Sliders: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kromaggs
I’ve already decided I would never play Skorne because of all the 40k guys I know constantly saying ‘s-Khorne, red evil guys, SO ORIGINAL’
Next time, just reply “Orcs and goblins, elves with bows, dwarves with axes, fascist marines with an eagle for an emblem, machine religion, necrons that look like terminators, Tau that look like manga, post apocalyptic cities… Real original.”
I don’t think there’s more than five or six concepts that haven’t been ripped off something else in the whole GW range.
I like the look of trolls and skorne…Im waiting to see the mythical plastic sets
The smart money puts the resin/plastic kits later this year, just before (or after) Gencon.
However, the next plastic/resin kits will be the Battle Engines, so whether they will be the stars of PP’s Gencon show is anyone’s guess.
But I would put my money on resin/plastic Hordes starter kits.

Let’s not forget the Lock and Load Gamefest 2011, the first Privateer press gamefest, in Seattle, june 18th and 19th…
I really hope Hordes go plastic as that will be so cool. Conversion will be so easy.
I really really dislike this re-sculpt… He has the look of someone waiting for their nail-polish to dry rather than a master torturer. It’s such a shame, Morghoul is a really cool character and there’s frankly nothing wrong with the prime sculpt already out there. Couldn’t they have spent the time making me a variant Magnus instead? *sad face*
I agree, I don’t like the sculpt either. He looks like he is cheesily gigling or maybe taking a dump. But that’s just my opinion. I will say that PP’s pictures do not often accurately reflect how good a model looks… I would have to see it in person before making the final judgement.
Told you they were in drag…
I can’t get by the whole cruelty/slavery thing with Skorne… I like the look of their models… Love the eastern theme… but I wish they were honourable and ruthless instead of cruel and ruthless.
