Sneak Peeks Show Off What’s Ahead For Warmachine & Hordes
February 14, 2017 by brennon
If you're looking to expand upon your Warmachine & Hordes collection then we got another big dump of previews trickling out of Privateer Press. Thanks to Party Foul for collecting together a bunch of these...
Leading the way we have this Hellslinger Phantom which has made a few people rather giddy. The model looks great, a mix of the Steampunk and the Fantastical which Warmahordes does so well. It's nice seeing just what Privateer Press are doing things to shake things up.
According to chatter on the internet, we also have this new Josef on the way. He is still taking a commanding role, directing the troops but with a much better sculpt. I love the look; this big bearded fellow bellowing out loud.
This is then shown against another awesome bellowing warrior. This one is a little bigger however with the Sea King for the Trollbloods.
We knew this was coming but it doesn't make it any less fascinating to see it coming to life. This is going to be one hell of a project when you get it down onto the tabletop. Maybe we need to use some of the techniques we used when working on the Golem for Circle Orboros.
The cavalcade of characters continues to pour forth with Venator Dakar for Skorne looking like there's a little bit of a Dark Eldar vibe going on. I love the Far Eastern inspiration for Skorne and this continues to reinforce how I love the aesthetic of the troops in this faction.
We also got to see another monster for Skorne, Chiron.
While the model looks ok I just don't feel the same draw as I do when I see what's coming in terms of the regular foot troops for Skorne. Some fluff also popped up for this beast...
"Chiron is one of the greatest basilisks ever broken to the skorne lash, and his subjugation attests to Beast Master Xekaar’s perfection of the art of physical conditioning through pain. The beast’s physical might is matched only by the power of his destructive gaze. Entire ranks of foes wither to dust as Chiron sweeps his cold eyes across them, and enemy warbeasts tear apart their own flesh in agony at his barest glance."
Last but not least we have the Morghoul slinking forth too. I like the set but it would have been nice to see the two supporting characters in this pack with some different posing to make them look less like mirrors of themselves.
There's probably a few we've missed from this big dump of information and if we have make sure to drop them in the comments below. Some great times lie ahead!
What do you think of the new crop of releases?

They’re not the upcoming 5th Hordes faction.
The Sea King looks absolutely incredible. I don’t play Hordes, but I definitely want to paint that mini.
Yes it is awesome, because nothing says “armour” like wearing a sunken ship. A lovely scuplt
that’s his Admiral’s hat? Lol
….. well “Hello Sailor ” then 😉
As much as I love seeing Alistair Caine’s evil Cryxian double…(Cryx solo perhaps??) I am actually impressed with the Skorne. This is the first time I have looked at Skorne (obviously I am not talking about the battle beasts as they are very characterful) minis and thought they actually look great. they seem to be have more substance and less spindly (the character in the new battle box leaves me cold) Really nice work Privateer, well done
And they’re not something for Retribution or Convergence. A common problem with many miniatures/games companies: support the heck out of the original X factions, then bring out a new faction or factions when players are getting bored with the originals and have developed Shiny Syndrome again, then ignore the newbies when that fades and the players klammer for more of the old factions. I foresee it happening with the new faction for Hordes in about a year or so. On a brighter note, the Sea King will be awesome once painted, but all of the colossals/gargantuans really need Sir Scale… Read more »
Oh wow. New Joe looks AMAZING!
yes I forgot to mention him…. but angry bearded men always make for great minis
The khador figure is not good old kovnik joe, it is a winterguard artillery kaptain.
@blaeyn, retribution has new figures coming out fairly soon once the command book for the faction is released in 2/3 months. There is already a 3d render of the character jack that is coming out on the interwebz.
Convergence was released as a limited faction and pp was up front about this when they announced them.
Josef would make a great Valhallan commander.
All the sculpts look fantastic
I’m pretty sure that is a sculpt of the heretofore unreleased Artillery Kapitan, not a new sculpt of Kovnik Jozef.

Those are looking really good.
It might be the angle or the render is still a WIP, the ship looks like it was tacked on after the troll was sculpted.
I need that Sea King! It is just such an epic model!
Some of the recent releases seemed a little ‘meh’, uninspired or contrived.
All these on the otherhand are amazing!
