New Plastic Black Dragons For Warmachine Coming Soon
March 13, 2015 by brennon
Privateer Press have been going rather crazy with the upcoming releases over the last few days and their focus today is on some new plastic Black Dragons and Iron Fang Pikemen that will be fighting for Khador as the new storyline powers onwards...
Now don't worry, you ARE seeing double. The Iron Fang Pikemen and Black Dragon units above are essentially the same unit with a different standard bearer at the front. Switch that around and the paint job alongside the new shields and you've got a brand spanking new elite unit rather than the basic one.
"Khador’s heavily armored Iron Fang pikemen are charged with hunting down and destroying enemy warjacks, carrying explosive-tipped blasting pikes designed to tear through the thickest armor of man or machine. The most veteran of these pikemen are welcomed into the elite Black Dragon kompany, where their experience and precision make them brutally efficient on the attack and unbreakable in defense."
These new plastics will replace the metal ones that already exist as this creates a full unit on the tabletop. The old metal ones will no longer be available from June.
Will you be adding some new Pikemen to your army?
Note how they had to make the upper arm longer on guys using an overhand grip, just so the elbow could bend around the pauldron. If you’re going to copy GW, at least steer clear of the dumb sh*t.
iron fang pikemen have been around since MK1, 10 years or so I think
I like some Pikemen and getting them in plastic was expected.
Not sure what was copied from GW. Armour design is different, a non static pose. This unit is over ten years old if you are referring to the new GW Chaos models, but yes that arm does look like a bit off a bodge job!
The OTT pauldrons. They look awful.
I know what you mean about the pauldrons but they do look better in real life. These guys are meant to take down war jacks who tower over them so it could be for defence. Though PP does seem to give almost every unit oversized pauldrons and they can’t all be jack killers.
The sculpts are not great, but very useful unit and so glad its in plastic
In game they are good, but the price has put me off for a long time, hopefully the move to plastic will hurt my wallet less
I must be missing the point what part is GW like again. And in somebodies deference namely the sculptor a little less of the its ok they can’t answer back, I would ask how long you have collected GW because the sculpts now bare no resemblance to when they first produced their D&D range. I hope them being in plastic means they will be less as well so I might afford some as well.
