The Flame Of Menoth Glows Brightly With New Warmachine Releases Soon
January 10, 2017 by brennon
Privateer Press are unleashing the purifying flames of the Protectorate Of Menoth as they add a new selection of characters and more for this faction in Warmachine. Leading the way we have Feora, The Conquering Flame.
"Feora, the Conquering Flame continues on her rising trajectory within the Protectorate. She has taken the reins of the southern armies like never before and has extended her participation in crusades abroad.
Her aspirations have always been higher—to rule the theocracy—and the time has come when her flame may rise to its ultimate ascendancy as Feora continues to solidify her place at the heart of the nation’s dawning golden age."
While I do like the look of the rider, Feora, I'm not overly sold on the horse and the overall aesthetic of the model just isn't clicking with me. I do like the over-the-top look of most Menoth characters but maybe this one goes a little too far for me, especially when you include all of those fins and flames!
Following on from her we do have a character that suits me a lot more, Sovereign Tristan Durant. He still looks ornate and over-the-top but with a dose of realism thrown in there too.
"Since becoming a full-fledged warcaster, Tristan Durant has been elevated to high station as a sovereign of the Protectorate. He serves the Creator by spreading the word of Menoth to all who would hear it.
Though compassionate, Durant does not hesitate to unleash holy wrath in Menoth’s name upon his enemies, particularly when such foes threaten the safety of the growing flock under his protection."
I might be missing the mark with these models and folks are looking at them the other way round but I personally think Tristan Durant looks cooler than the mighty Feora. I think the pose has a lot to do with it too, where Feora could essentially be doing anything whilst Tristan is most definitely in the midst of battle urging his warriors forward.
Lastly for Menoth we're looking at another hulking walking church in the form of the Eye Of Truth.
"Resplendent with the glory of Menoth, the Eye of Truth banishes the foul sorceries of unbelievers with the might of divine will. When this magnificent warjack fights, there is no place for the wicked and unrepentant to hide, and their perfidies are soon cleansed from the world.
The Eye of Truth has transcended its humble origins as a simple weapon of war to become a true instrument of the Great Crusade."
Once again I think they've hit the right note here working to skirt the boundaries of there being 'too much'. Personally, I prefer the weapon of the Indictor but this chaps sword/mace looks like it would do a great deal of damage.
Retribution Helios
As well as all this fire we also have a release from Privateer Press for the Retribution of Scyrah. The Helios is getting a nice plastic release!
"The Hyperion towers over the vanguard as one of the most formidable weapons in the Retribution’s arsenal, armed with an incomprehensibly powerful starburst weapon capable of annihilating anything in its blast. The Helios, housing the largest field generator in any myrmidon, has the power to reshape battlefields; the monumental forces it wields push and pull opponents wherever it chooses.
Originally kept within Ios’ borders to defend the nation and especially House Shyeel, these machines have recently been added to the Retribution’s righteous cause."
While I've never been overly sold on the look of the Retribution I do like seeing these beefier looking Warjacks. There is a place for the lithe and the graceful but sometimes you just need something to pummel the enemy into submission. This fellow has the fists for that!
Now onto release dates! Feora will be out this week on January 11th while the other models you see here will be out later in the month, the 25th of January.
Will you be picking up any of these releases?
"Feora, the Conquering Flame continues on her rising trajectory within the Protectorate..."
LOVE the ‘jacks. As for the other figures, they’re a little too cartoony… I think Feora has just jumped the shark. She was great one or two versions ago, now it’s just nonsense.
Jumped the shark.. and landed on a Ponyta! I guess Pokemon is “in” this year 😀
They made Feora really over the top by giving her horse with flaming mane and tail. Tristan and jacks are standard that you can expect from PP.
I agree @mecha82 & @elromanzo – the warjacks are the usual excellent quality releases we have come to love. Durant is also a great figure but wtf were they thinking when they sculpted this version of Feora? The design approval must have been given by an 8 year old. It is the worst figure since the Hordes Extreme Warpwolf.
the horse…the horse…the horse is on fire ……………….(Geez I hated that song)
lol ;D
helios looks massive.
I dont get that flames, never been fan of protectorate. Both jacks are amazing !
Jacks, more of the same, but at least they are consistent with those… But that horse… Oh lordy. That’s almost original Nagash levels of fail…
While Feora is a little over the top I really like the Menoth warjack. I already have Durant and I really love how crisp the details are on the model.
I hope the lady is well insulated, as it must be disconcerting to the burning mane constantly licking around her face and “assets”
