Company Of Iron Releases October 25th From Privateer Press
September 22, 2017 by brennon
Privateer Press has now released the date that you'll be able to get your hands on Company Of Iron which is the cut down skirmish game set within the world of Warmachine & Hordes.
"With this Company of Iron starter box, you can choose to control the powerful storm technology of Cygnar’s Stormblades or harness a savage band of farrow brigands. Then expand your chosen force or forge your own Company of Iron from among the expansive range of available WARMACHINE and HORDES models."
The focus of the boxed set is that it will give you both Cygnar and Farrow soldiers in a deadly battle.
The Cygnar contingent is made up of...
- • Lieutenant Gwen Keller
- • 6x Stormblade Infantry
- • 3x Storm Gunners
...and the Farrow Brigade matches up against it with...
- • Agata, Queen of Carnage
- • 10x Farrow Brigands
With smaller squad sizes, individual rules for a new style of play, and the removal of Warcasters, this could be an awesome way to play out more narrative experiences in the world of Immoren.
What do you think?

I dunno about this, I enjoy Warmagordes because of the Warcasters, they give you so many options to do crazy cool things with your force – and I love the big stompie Warjacks too, steampowered armoured behemoths smashing and blowing stuff up – the crazy variety of creatures, warmachines, and monsters are super fun too – oh! oh! and ESPECIALLY all the awesome types of infantry, whether light and fast or armoured like a brick sh.. er house, they come equipped with all sorts of weapons, neat tactics, and add on units that really make the game – they truly… Read more »
More ways to play and a lower point of entry is always good
Plus if you want NPC minis for the Iron Kingdoms RPG then it can also be used for that.
Also, people new to games who might not necessarily like GW or have a retailer nearby have something more digestible to start with and understand.
Totally up for this, great way to intro people, great way to dabble in forces. Plus another skirmish game to get current minis on the table. Also company of iron force and a battle box is a good way to an army.
Forgot to say There is a good play through on privateers youtube channel
I’m interested, having lost all interest in Warmahordes ever since they went to warbands plus troops (and troops and troops and, oh yes, more troops). But I have a niggling doubt about the cover art: especially in the play through video using a black and white version as a backdrop, Gwen’s neck guard (gorget?) make it look as if she’s sticking her tongue out as Agata. And now I can’t un-see it that way. But what the price of the starter box will be the biggest determining factor.
@blaeyn its up on Element game 60 quid to the uk based.
Well it looks like I am dropping my pants of financial responsibility yet again . *Sob …..I am so easy ……
Saves money on belts …..
It does in deed …… Truly you are numbered amougst the wise my friend
worth checking, i’ve been really into skirmish games more and more in the past few years
Had high hopes that with the low modelcount PP would actually have individual minis…have no idea why I had these delusions…its PP after all.
looks a great starter box.
Seems interesting enough but WMH without warcasters/warlocks and Warjacks/Warbeasts doesn’t just feel right.
Though it won’t have warcasters/warlocks, I believe light warjacks/beasts are able to be used within these rules.
