Sláine Miniatures Game Arrives For Pre-Order This Weekend!
February 10, 2022 by brennon
Warlord Games has been working away on something awesome in the background for lovers of Fantasy and 2000AD. The Sláine Miniatures Game arrives for pre-order this Friday, allowing you to dive into this wild world as heroes and villains.
Kiss My Axe! Starter Set // Warlord Games
The Sláine Miniatures Game has been designed by Andy Chambers, Roger Gerrish & Gav Thorpe and whilst it has similarities to Warlord's previous 2000AD games, the mechanics have been tweaked and updated for a sword and sorcery style affair where magic gets flung around rather than bullets.
The Kiss My Axe! Starter Set for the game comes with Sláine Mac Roth as well as Sláine when he has been embraced by the Warp Spasm! You also get Nest, Ukko The Dwarf, Slough Throt and three Skull Swords using sword and shield.
There are also some neat terrain elements like two Celtic Huts, Fences and a Weirdstone with Drune Priest. You also get everything you need to play including a rulebook, quick-start guide, gaming tokens, cards and dice.
This looks like a pretty neat way to get your 2000AD Sláine fix. Dive in and start hacking apart enemies at your leisure.
More Sláine Miniatures Game Boxed Sets!
As well as the Kiss My Axe! Starter Set, the team at Warlord Games are also working on warband sets and hero sets for a range of factions from throughout the world of Sláine. For example, You'll be able to pick up the Earth Tribe.

These wild warriors, who are looking particularly awesome I must say, can then be combined with some of the Earth Tribe Heroes they have been working on.

This includes the likes of Queen Niamh, Mongan Axehead, King Rudraige (with Silver Sword Of The Moon) and King Gann (with Flaming Spear Of The Sun). Again, some very characterful miniatures that match up nicely with the comic art of this particular universe.
Maybe you prefer coming down on the side of the Drune? Well, you can check out this warband that serves Crom Cruach.
Drune // Warlord Games
They also don't mind allying themselves with Fomorians, Dark Elves and Demons so they're not a particularly nice lot! Again, some great miniatures for you to battle against (or with!) on the tabletop. You can also get your hands on a set of Drune Heroes too...
Drune Heroes // Warlord Games
The Drune heroes include The Lord Weird Slough Feg, Medb, Megrim and Robym The Dwarf. I really like the fellow with the antlers! I imagine this is going to be a range that is picked up by collectors as much as it is wargamers.
If you want to go fully down the path of evil then you could also look at picking up some Fomorians!
Fomorians // Warlord Games
Rising from the seas, these are some of the most deadly threats to the land. Only Sláine and his companions will be able to put them back into the depths, probably with the aid of his axe rather than careful negotiations.
You'll also be able to pick up the impressive Balor Of The Evil Eye who comes ready to scare everyone into submission.
Balor // Warlord Games
All of these miniatures are going to be available in the Warlord Resin they've been using for a number of their games and ranges. I would imagine that we'll see this expand slowly as well with different personalities, monsters and more making the cut.
Are you going to be diving in and playing the Sláine Miniatures Game?

I’m super excited for this. I’ve loved Sláine ever since reading the Horned God trilogy back in the 90s. The miniatures are very impressive and I’ve heard good thinks about the other two 2000ad games.
I recognise the buildings and fences as being from Sarissa, as I recently got one for my Gauls.
I read the comics as a kid the artwork alone for a comic was just amazing. The style was something quite unqiue compared to the more american style found in comics. That is true for most 2000 AD worlds they created often over looked in recent times by the super hero fad. It is great to see Warlord Games bring them to life first in judge Dredd and now the current outing in Slaine. the box set is more than reasonable 56 pounds if the video is correct which you seem to get a fair amount of value from that.… Read more »
Yeah, the warlord resin does suck somewhat. I do wish the figures were going to be in metal, but looking at raw material metal prices these days I can see how they couldn’t make it work financially for a licenced system.
Looking forward to this. I will be laying aside my Anti-Shiney-Syndrome League membership for a while when this is released. Slaine is my favourite strip from 2000AD so simply collecting and painting the models will be enough of a draw, and they will go straight to the front of my painting queue. I am optimistic about the gameplay though as I enjoy the Strontium Dog system, and the terrain requirements will not be onerous as most of the action can be set in the bog-standard British countryside with the odd feature item.
Looks a great game an the figures look fabulous for the game.
Take my Mother Flipping MONEY!
Glen Fabry and Simon Bisley influenced my own sketching so much! I did an O Level Art Project on The Horned God!
Those are some nice miniatures. I know nothing about comic book that these are based on but from look of those it’s Celtic themed.
This has been on my projects list since Warlord announced it at their open day last year. I’m a bit disappointed that it will be in their resin rather than metal. I’m hoping the sculpts have been designed with this in mind. Also hoping that there is a “just send me everything already, I’ll set fire to my wallet now” option when preordering.
I might be getting this next year, but not as a preorder. I am going to wait until a certain amount has been brought out. In the meantime I will definitely enjoy the show.
I have never seen the mag. But I do know some of the stories from Irish pre-history. Alternative minatures have a wide range of metals, and are threatening to bring out their game ” Eirn”.
I would like to see a number of play throughs before investing in horrid resin. If the rule book is separate then yes of not then Maybe
This requires further investigation.☺
hmmm……… Warlord did a phenomenal job with realising the Strontium Dog miniatures from the art of the late and great Carlos Ezquerra, and a fine job on the Dredd minis but not so taken with the Slaine ones….. I see some of Glen Fabry’s stylings in them but not as well done as the SD minis. The trailer was a bit……. and for the love of Ukko, could they not please learn how to pronounce Sláine properly. There’s a feckign fada on the ‘a’!!!!
don’t mention Tír na nÓg or Medb or Niamh
lol- aye. Can understand Medb being a tricky one though!!
don’t go near Siobhan, that causes strokes
Who is she?
Sorry Torros, being a smart arse and trying to make fun of the difficulty some people have with the name ‘Siobhan’ I apologise
@buggeroff I just wanted to know who Siobhan was and what sort of strokes she causes
https://youtu.be/6sFypViRt6Q
😀
Maybe someone should do a video on how to pronounce those words properly … 😉
don’t even know what a ‘fada’ is.
a fada is the acute accent mark used in irish.
ah .. that weird squigly thing above the a in ‘slaine’
I liked all the 2000AD lines by Warlord. I also like the fact that these games are finite and you kinda can complete and finish collecting them.
Love what i see here too. I just hope the Warlord resin wont feel like a kick into a hobbyists balls. THeir MEtal casts were so good.
one of my favourite 2000 AD characters from the early 80’s one of the best stories. mad stuff.
Vid looks great, voice over is shockingly shite. Butchered the names ??.
If only Warlord knew someone who could have helped them……
Agh!!! Tartan
Will Store@Ontabletop be stocking this game?
