Warhammer Online F2P Game Announced
August 16, 2011 by brennon
Some of us decided that we wouldn't spend our money on miniatures from Games Workshop and instead went for the online Old World in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning...
Now Bioware Mythic and EA have released information and a trailer (which you can see above) for their new F2P (Free to Play) game based on the same engine - Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes.
6v6v6 Player Vs Player combat sounds pretty interesting...but would you rather this than playing in the real MMO universe they created? On top of that, would you just rather do Pen & Paper role playing and war gaming?
So what do you think of this new spin off?
Is the Old World still drawing you into online gaming in the Warhammer world?

I hope the game play will be better than the graphics
i beta tested age of reckoning it was $hit then and still is and i reckon this will be the same.
looks awful! I like the WH setting very much but warhammer Online was not a game I liked.
Where’s the drawbacks of its “free to play” system? Pay to get past a level cap, advertisements, what kind of trade-off is there to the “free”?
I’ll consider playing. Not many MMO’s catch even my passing glance, but a free one set in the Warhammer World… that might get a few hours play from me.
Free is always good.
Unless its a game from Mythic…
Is the pay for play still up and running? I think only a hand full of online pay per month games are still holding on. It’s not like the old days when they had backlog due to the over flow of players.
No thanks. pvpvp of Three Kingdoms. And that horrible jumping arround evaisive play style of many failed games.
Typical one hit wonder. Play for a week, get battered by better computers, then wish for your time back.
Wow. After the magnificent steaming pile of sh1t that was WAR, I am absolutely dumbfounded that GW is still letting the amateurs at Mythic further crap on the wonderful IP of Warhammer.
This is nothing to do with Mythic its done by Bioware.
…Mythic has nothing to do with this.
Oh, wait, I have no idea how I missed seeing “Bioware *Mythic*” right there. My apologies.
Free? Awesome! I’m…still not going to play it. I’m not really an online gamer.
That looks horrible. Since when were vibrant colors and lush backgrounds congruent with the grimdark old world that is the warhammer setting? Surely bioware can make a product more grounded in it’s inspiration than that, they are a great developer.
Tone down the color a bit, base the styling more on warHAMMER rather than warCRAFT, and set the game in Mordheim and I’ll buy all the dlc I can afford.
Mark of Chaos had a better grasp of the grim darkness of the Old World…and not a bad game either really.
Playable vampire counts? I’m in!
