Warhammer Forge Brings Fimir to Life
January 16, 2012 by brennon
Warhammer Forge have come out with some more great miniatures to plague the Old World with. This time its the dreaded and mist-shrouded Fimir.
Not bad models at all, and they seem to have breathed a new lease of life into a rather ancient part of the Warhammer World. Fimir were actually lurking in a swamp during a battle of Warhammer I played last week!
If you want to get hold of these guys, head over to Forge World or check out these experimental rules before hand here.
Will you be seduced into buying these ancients of the Old World?

Love these guys. Used to have a nice warband of old Fimir models for WH back in the day, and would also throw them into WHFRP campaigns at any plausable opportunity. Not sure how they fit into any of the Old World fluff anymore but they were always in my mind one of the best evil races, the slavers of mankind and elf alike, monstrous creatures of pseudo-celtic myth and legend with lots of individuality, far more than just orcs’n’gobbos.
FW now have to release a Meargh and Dirach to accompany these!
Yes they have that “old school” look to them that serves them well.
These look pretty sweet.
Am I the only one who thought to oneself “£28 for 3 Monstrous Infantry models in Resin… that’s £2 cheaper than Finecast, cool.” … … that’s not a healthy thought to have, surely!? Have I surrendered to GW’s pricing !?
They are pretty nice models, and seems that Warhammer Forge might be bringing out all sorts of beasts from the midst of the Storm of Magic book. I can’t wait to see what else is on offer from them in the future.
Keeping the Warhammer flames burning lol
They’re interesting models, however the new Crypt Horror/Vargheist kit is £29 so these more niche, resin (as opposed to mass production injection-moulded plastic) models cost less than GW proper.
I know the other kit has options and there are more expensive monstrous infantry from FW but still…it’s not a good sign.
I see many large human/monstrous creature minis that are around a tenner each regardless of the manufacturer these days. Its not a bank breaker.
5 Comments in and nobody’s made a joke about one eyed monsters? I thought the ogre sized Fimir were a mistake and they were originally only supposed to be slightly taller than an orc, but I suppose FW gets to do whatever they want with ’em as long as they don’t bring up the more unsavoury aspects of Fimm biology that helped the decision to bin them in the first place.
Lol. And here I was thinking that Brennon had made a tongue-in-cheek comment about “Seduced” on purpose. 😉 I love ’em. As a self-admitted Fimirophile (shudders) i’m so happy that the ol’ bog raiding Daemonologists are making at least a limited reappearance. Yes, at first I was a little put off by the transition from 25mm to 40 mm bases (just as many were back in the day, too!), but these are bloody brilliant all the same. Oh, and if smaller (Shearl?) Fimir are you cuppa tea, check this out, about 2/3 of the way down: http://www.bloodmoonminis.com/store.html Very much like… Read more »
Good to see some minis for these guys. They recently reappeared as summoned creatures for Storm of Magic, alongside the Zoats.
BoW Sam
Those look great.
Fimir! Oh my, Fimir! wow!
Lovely to see these guys back! I’m a big fan of the Fimir!
It’s reassuring to know that I’m likely not the only person to think “Counts as ogre kindom army”. Anything to bring in/back minor factions to GW games is good in my book – I wish they did stuff like this for 40k though (3 pack of enslavers would get me making a whole second army of them!).
Maybe they could make some kind of diminutive or bestial abhumans with lasguns for 40k…
I never should have lost my ‘Heroquest’ boxes. Best Chaos vs. Orks set ever.
If you played Chaos.
They sure have grown since the last incarnation. But I’m liking them dispite that.
nice modles. Shame about them being so big. I was hoping to pull out the hand full of fimir that came in the old Heros’ quest game.
