Total War: Warhammer II – Tomb Kings // Journey From Tabletop
December 20, 2017 by crew
Hey everyone, Sam here and today we've got everything you need to know about the new Rise of the Tomb Kings Expansion for Total War: Warhammer II.
The Tomb Kings, along with the Skaven, were two of the most requested factions from the Total War community and just yesterday Creative Assembly gave us our first look at the faction in a glorious trailer.
So Rise of the Tomb Kings is a Campaign Pack DLC for Total War: WARHAMMER II which will be available to play in both the Eye of the Vortex campaign and Mortal Empires from Launch. While the Tomb Kings can be played in the Eye of the Vortex campaign, they do not seek to influence the Vortex itself, and therefore do not engage in the race for control of it. Instead, they seek the nine cursed Books of Nagash, a search culminating in an epic battle at the Black Pyramid of Nagash. Each of these books grants a unique campaign bonus, and puts the player a step further along the road to victory.
Players will equally have access to four Legendary Lords from the Tomb Kings faction; Arkhan the Black, Grand Hierophant Khatep, High Queen Khalida and Settra the Imperishable.
As you play through the campaign as the Tomb Kings you will be able to research and uncover the mysteries of ancient Nehekharan Dynasties to further expand their armies, combine exotic trade goods and Canopic Jars – the Tomb Kings’ unique resource – to craft magic items and raise fabled Legions of Legend at the Mortuary Cult, and unlock the power of their unique rites to turn the tide of conflicts with powerful abilities like shrouding their territory in deadly sandstorms.
As Nehekharan warriors fall in battle, their essences flow to the realm of souls. As certain thresholds are reached, mass-healing and resurrection waves are triggered, reinvigorating the Tomb Kings’ armies.
Total War: WARHAMMER II – Rise of the Tomb Kings will be released on the 23rd of January 2018 but you can pre-order the campaign pack on Steam now to receive a 10% discount on your purchase.
Are you ready to face the Tomb Kings?
Sounds great, it would be nice to field a chariot heavy force with giant constructs as support.
My hearts jumping in excitement. I’m waiting for this since the announcement of Total War – Warhammer II 🙂

interesting. couple of concerns but on the whole, really excited with this DLC! 1) Chariots are looking awesome!! But, if they use the same mapping as monsters to overcome the issues they’ve historically had with mapping chariots I’m a tad worried they could be overpowered, particularly against infantry 2) from a lore perspective, why are they after the books of Nagash? Tomb Kings haaate Nagash, surely they’d want to destroy his artefacts, not horde them 3) does this mean Nagash could be in the game? Ermaguuuurd!!! Very excited, just a shame G-dubs got rid of the Tomb Kings range (come… Read more »
There was a blurb during the interview on twitch where they mentioned Settra is still hellbent on reversing the curse. Presumably he assumes if Nagash used the information in the books to cast that magic, there might be enough there to counteract it.
Also, willing to bet that you’ll face nagash in the final campaign battle, since you are assaulting the black pyramid.
would be good to be the main man Nagash in the game.
