Skarbrand To Slaughter His Way Into Age Of Sigmar Soon
September 22, 2015 by brennon
A mighty Khorne Daemon is coming to strike down the Stormcast Eternal forces in Games Workshop's Age of Sigmar. Skarbrand is coming back and there has been a sneaky look at the front cover of the new White Dwarf showing him off HERE...
Skarbrand is quite the important figure in Warhammer Lore. He was a favoured warrior of Khorne until he was turned on his master by the whispers of Tzeentch. Cast out by Khorne he continued to serve him even in exile and while a huge force of nature has only appeared in Warhammer 40,000 until now.
Now the mighty Bloodthirsty seems to be looking to rampaging his way across the planes of existence. He looks like he will make a great villain to the Celestant-Prime that we saw not long ago.
Model-wise I think it's actually not too bad and certainly stands out against other big Khorne Daemons of his kind.
What do you think?

Groan… the Mom Miniaturas demon looks better imo, is 17cm tall, and will be a fraction of the cost:

Looks better than the Bloodthirsters, doesn’t look massively top heavy and balancing on a sliver of plastic.
Weak, so weak. Not worth every penny that it’s going to cost.
I think I’ll wait for the Creature Caster warrior demon, which is currently being shipped out to kickstarter backers: far greater presence on the battlefield, much bigger, 2/3 the price, and I get a sense that the sculpt is intended more for adults, rather than this OTT adolescent model.

Yeah, agreed. CC has miniatures that are in their own class in my opinion. If I’d ever play a GW game with chaos as chosen faction I’d go with CC for a greater deamon mini every time.
I can’t say that I’d go that way every time- since there’re are some fantastic ones out there.
Just off of the top of my head, Ultraforge, Mierce, Reaper and Heresy all have some groovy giant daemons that fit the bill.
Agreed, but it’s hard to point out a galaxy of cheaper and better alternatives without stirring up a storm of loyalist controversy… and I only know one person who is ‘smart enough’ to buy this.
i wish they would show something other than the golden boys or the red angry brigade
That’s a proper monster, nice work by GW.
Looks like Oderous Urungus from Gwar

Would love a suitable mini for balsac the jaws of death….
rip Oderus 🙁
I think it’s bloody awesome! Bloodthirster on roids lol
I still maintain that is the real secret behind the rage of Khorne and his followers. Steroids can do that to a person, and Skarbrand seems to use them more than most Bloosthirsters. The whole ‘Tzeentch made me do it’ excuse is fooling nobody… 😉
When was the last time you asked a Bloodthirster to take a doping test? And when he is carrying a huge axe, would you want to be the guy who asks him?
A fair point. Probably best to send him a letter from a safe distance.
Looks a lot like the AoW Herald Demon TBH, but not sure how they compare in terms of size. I’m guessing it would be smaller as it’s only 12 euros.

Of course, Skarbrand’s issue may be with the unfairness of it all. I mean, the big green angry guy gets Scarlett Johansson to help him calm down, and what does Skarbrand get? Nothing, that’s what. He wants to know where his lullaby is, damn it… 😉
And we all know where that hot angry blood goes when Scarlett Johansson shows up 😉
Now, now @manpug – this is a family site. 🙂
I like the platted beard. For an out of control rage-monster Skarbrand really likes his intricate facial hair styling techniques.
“Listen Skar; if you don’t stop fidgeting these plaits will never set. You’re the one who wanted to be the fanciest looking Bloodthirster out there, and this is the price. You’ll just have to dismember people later.”
On balance, I like this mini. As an exiled Bloodthirster who is angrier than most of his fellow rage-daemon kind, I think he works. The ruined wings, exposed bones on one side of his face, and broken horns are all effective references to his fall from… umm… well not really ‘grace’ but at least favour, and his weaponry is unique to him and looks the part of a pair of daemonic axe wielded by an embodiment of rage, even if I would prefer it if one of his axes was held in a different grip, perhaps a little further down… Read more »
@brennon he always been part of the Warhammer Fantasy as well at least the last 2 Deamon army books included him, I liked fielding him
Yep and it’s about time they made an official model for the fella.
looks good not to keen on the beard.
Yawn…
My thoughts exactly – (without opening my mouth) …ruggish!
I assume that since he’s on a round base now, he’s fully usable in 40k as well. He’s been in the demon’s codex since it’s inception. I was quite surprised that Fateweaver of all the character greater demons beat him to having an official model. It was a toss up, as Nurgle’s Ku’gaath was much more useful than Skarrbrand used to be.
A few images from different angles of Skarbrand from War of Sigmar, including a snapshot of his 40K rules.

That’s a badass demon. I enjoyed painting the Bloodthirster kit, this will make a nice addition to my khorne collection.
Skarbrand’s AoS rules are out. Oddly enough, they are much more complex than his 40K rules. I particularly like the levels of rage mechanic, where the angrier he is (due to wounds inflicted on him or being unable to fight for a round) the more powerful he becomes. He has the potential to be a total beast in combat in the right circumstances, though balancing his growing offensive abilities with his ever shrinking pool of wounds would be the trick in getting the best out of him. If it had looked something like the artwork in this feature, I would have liked it. The model has an odd pose, especially the right arm. What is it meant to be doing eith that axe? It looks like it’s trying to give someone the weapon.
