The build is coming along nicely. Hopefully the detailing stops it all looking too regular and blocky.
If you’re using that blue leatherette material as water you could probably do modular land and islands for maximum flexibility.
Very tempted to have a go at a version myself now.
I friggin love it ! This looks so amazing. Now I feel really tempted to build something alike, may start in a smaller overall scale though, but its so well suited for expendability.
I really have to think this over : D
Thanks a lot, this is such an inspiring endeavor !
The final piece looks amazing @warzan Truly stunning. Can’t wait to see the whole thing put together – if I didn’t have so much infinity terrain going on I’d be all over this!
Looking good Warren!
This is looking awesome! my only questions would be how are things looking tactically, and if you are going for a very lake town look, as well as the possibility of knocking models off, into the water, then aren’t most of the platforms a bit too close? This could also help to spread what you have made out more, and make it take up even more of the table
Have to agree it does look very good indeed.
I’ve been thinking of trying something like this for infinity. Not sure how it would play tho
I love how it looks!
Something I would consider for the planks: paint a couple here and there a lighter shade to give it the recently replaced look. Maybe even break a couple of them.
darkredeemer,
Just go for it, it will make an ace table you don’t have to add the same buildings.
Warzan
looking ace mate, I made a set of those lifting bridges ill put some pictures on my thread.
This is proving to be most fascinating, I think you’re on to something with this. Very well done indeed.
Really cool to see how a table is built
Very nice stuff Warren.
My only concern for your project would be the use of the 4 ground and so on buildings, and scale in general. I have the freebie model off the white dwarf, and it is significantly bigger than any non monster troop in any 28mm game I’ve ever played. Its bigger than a 40K terminator both in height and bulk. From the pictures, the chaos guys look just as big, so its probably worth bearing in mind that this seems closer a 40mm game than a 28mm one scale wise (it does make the models look impressive though).
Lough Death is a human settlement, armoured disembodied warriors of awesomeness are always gonna look big … and struggle to fit into the loos 😉
They’ll fit in just fine.
In the rules, bases don’t matter, so you can just pile your unit of five sigmarines on top of each other, and you’ll easily jam them into even the smallest building…
This is turning into a very nice series. Please do more of these when you have a chance. They make me want to build stuff. (Or finish all the abandoned projects I have lying around.)
Looks awesome!
It looks like you’ve already discolored the bottom of the piling slightly to give that recently wet look, and I was just going to say I’ve done something similar where I used ‘ardcoat/gloss varnish on the bottom of pilings to give that freshly wet look as well.
WOW! Awesome looking board @warzan! I’ll be following the rest and going back to Watch the previous 2 vlogs.
I love the build so far though being an infinity fan as well I would love to see this used as some sort of remote USAriadna lake town out on the frontier with an Infinity battle going on though out the streets and down in the water and up in the buildings
those final test pieces look great
Coming along brilliantly. The test coloured/weathered product looks great.
Looks ace.
Looks great. You might want to leave a bit of water under the loo in the tower. Maybe a small row boat under it where prisoners would have to be for their punishment.
I think someone else up above pointed out above that you might want to leave gaps and space between the various platforms. No so much to fill the board but to allow for hazards and obstructions. Perhaps not a concern at this stage.
I’m really liking this and if I didn’t live in a studio apartment I’d build my own.
the finished parts look brilliant @warzan
You should definitely do ladders for getting up and down levels.
You can make them modular, as you know the required length for each of the drops between level.
You could model the ladders with wire, bending into hooks at the top, and you could hook them over the outermost plank (coffee stirrer) of the platforms.
If you get galvanised wire mesh mesh, like they use for aviaries and stuff, iyou can just cut it, bend the ends over, bend it out of shape a bit so it looks less uniform, and paint it to look like rope ladders.
Looks great Warren/Warzan, If I may be a tiny bit critical, it looks too dense, laketown/ had canals etc through it. and on canals are you doing bridges?
I realize your not making a recreation of Laketown but It is part of the aesthetic that I liked.
great progress, want to see more, lots more
looking good. Are going to use ladder? steps? and how do you guys plan to make all the lower parts of the board tactically interesting so the game doesn’t only revolve around the center?
can’t wait to see the next update.
really liking the look of this, I may do something similar for my Hadross for Wrath of Kings, quick question though where did you get the pleather from? I meant to pick your brains at the bootcamp, but too much to do and not enough time.
Take it easy
