Pre-order New Undead Morghast & Spirit Hosts For Warhammer!
September 6, 2014 by brennon
Games Workshop have put up the newest set of pre-orders for the Warhammer Fantasy The End Times range. See what you think of the Harbingers and Archai that are joining the fight for Nagash alongside new Spirit Hosts...
Above are both the Harbingers & Archai in that order. Both are very cool creatures and I like the design and weaponry that they're bringing to the battlefield. A few people have said that they don't like the aesthetic but I think it fits in nicely with the rest of the releases for Nagash's entourage and with the right paint scheme would work well in an Undead Legion.
As well as the rather cool winged beasts we have the summoned spirits of the damned that are actually coming out of the skeletons on their bases which is very cool. These are decidedly better than the old spirit hosts and I think they look very cool indeed. Another neat addition to the undead line-up.
Let's see what else comes of The End Times and the potential of Bretonnians!
Will you be ordering?

I quite like the new Spirit Hosts, might pick some of those up for use in RPGs. The Harbingers are… okay I guess, I still think the designs are a little OTT and not really in keeping with the traditional GW Undead style, but they’re not bad miniatures.
At the risk of sounding like a fan boy, I rather like them – 3 weeks of releases in a row, I am shocked. Although I can see why people may dislike them.
Morgiests are huge, thinking of using these as a stand in for necropolis knights (Unless I can find another alternative – nasty sculpts). Spirit host are cool but also reasonably priced to my mind, definitely need to pick some up.
May this long continue
The morgheists are actually the only models I’ve liked from these releases. Always preferred spirit hosts made of other troops painted spectral.
I like the look of the spirits from the mortis engine better. Far more work went into their design IMO. You can buy all of them, knights and spirit cloud, as bits for the price of the spirit hosts above, and can still use them if you play in tournaments or at a store. Would take a minimum of shuffling and modifying, but isn’t that what the hobby is about.
These look more like dryads, and good ones at that lol. In an effort to make them ethereal, they’ve made them twiggy.
Definitely a good direction thematically. I like these a lot because they are different from the usual roll out. Well done GW! 😀
I really like the Morghasts and the Spirit Hosts both – I think they will fit rather well into the Undead ranges. The spirit hosts do a far better job of conveying ethereal…ness (totally a word) then their predecessors, and the spirits flowing from the skeletons on the base is another nice touch. The Morghasts are well done in my opinion because they manage to be clearly Undead and so will fit in with the existing undead ranges, while also being equally clearly different from your average walking corpse of Khemrian constuct. They are Undead, but it is obvious at… Read more »
I like the Morghast components, but not necessarily the assembled creature. I think the chest and shoulder pads would be great for a Khorne deamon prince. And the Archai head/helmet would look great for a Dark Eldar monstrosity.
Although the new spirit host looks nice I actually quite like the vintage horror look of the old models.
