Nagash Returns To The Old World Of Warhammer Fantasy
August 15, 2014 by brennon
It didn't take long for the miniature to arrive on the internet. The first image of Nagash for Warhammer Fantasy by Games Workshop has leaked out and it's actually looking very cool, in my opinion at least...
First off look how utterly huge he is. Nagash appears to stand head and shoulders over regular undead miniatures and he's apparently no slouch when it comes to both magic and combat, as you might expect from the Old Worlds deadliest foe. I can't wait to see what the rules are for this beast and hopefully more angles on the model showing off proper scale and such.
As it stands though I am totally on board with this one!
Update: The Rules for Nagash have been added to the forum topic on him HERE!
What do you think of Nagash?

Can’t wait to see this in the flesh (dry, dusty bones?)
Don’t think much of this at all. It looks like a bland action figure.
Even from the fuzzy image this looks really nice,
kind of reminds me of the dead dragon priests from Skyrim.
Reminds me of an old Vegas showgirl :-).
Not keen. He looks like an over large boney Malekith. I know some of you are now going to tell me that the dark elves taught him magic, but he should either look Nehekaran or Sauronesque. Lets face it that is who he originally was based on. That and he was a replacement for Malal.
Being that they have contracts with LOTR owners making a Sauron looking model might rub off the wrong way with them and cause unwanted disputes. Besides you could just buy the Sauron model and play him with your friends as Nagash.
Skeletor comes to Warhammer!!!
P.S. Anyone want to guess how I’ll be painting him?
As ram man!?
The detail looks good, but the pose looks very bland – no dynamism or action in there at all.
Still, it’s about a million miles better than the old figure.
Oooh kinky! Big with a tome and a staff and a really nice grin. Cannot wait.
So the tradition is kept- it still looks like a goofy Scooby villain.
It’s to busy. GW seem to have forgotten that sometimes less is more. At least for once they’ll have an excuse for skulls
The model itself is rather small news to me (I do actually like it though)
The big news is that proper necromancer armies are supported again
Mantic just sold a rather large bunch of undead 🙂
Bit late to the party, however… oh my word! He looks glorious! Bring it on GW, bring it on! 😀
It is a poor picture. But from what i can see he looks really good.
The GW horrid paintjob is making him look worse then he is. A darker scheme would fit him better, with less edge highlights going on.
I’m a fan, I’d love to get my hands on this!
Static action figure, but not the worst they’ve put out this year. I can only hope they’re saving their fantasy design genius for the Bretonnian release :-).
Very Epic. Looking good.
The original model was better.
The original model was one of the worse models ever made…. but that’s possibly why it grew on so many people ha ha. It had a certain crazy level of charm to it.
I love the old Nagash. The studio paint scheme didn’t help him. But painted to match an army he’s brilliant. The old Nagash was of the time GWs undead army was a riot of colour and 80s heavy metal album inspired standards and cloaks.
NAGASH!!!! Gesundheit.
I just looked yesterday at the GW webpage to see if they ever updated Nagash from that failed original attempt and now here he is. It’s not the clearest picture in the world but it still feels like they’re trying to over-ornament him and also still trying to make him purple. He’s already a giant skeleton man, I don’t think the costume really needs to be over the top to make him interesting.
I like the prospect of the advancement of the warhammer story a bit but the model is a bit, well, meh IMO. It’s a typical GW skull fest. It’s almost like GW’s idea of scary means big and covered in skulls.
I think this may be my first GW mini in a very long time.
It’s a massive improvement on the original but it just doesn’t do it for me. Maybe it’s the picture but it’s way too busy.
You know, Games Workshop are really ticking me off. After some awful vomit 40K Space Wolf models, they pull out this MAGNIFICENT BEAST of a model !!!
My only concern is this isn’t a gaming piece, but a display model – lots of bits that look like they can be broken easily, so one might have to edit it slightly.
Other than the spirits fannying around the staff area I think it looks pretty solid really, I have to admit I’ve recently discovered the joys of Humbrol liquid poly ‘plastic glue’ though, this stuff seemingly makes even the most fragile of plastic models weld together in a way that makes them indestructible! xD
That said, I don’t have an undead army so he may well end up as a display piece…
Still, bring on the better photos!
I’ve used dollar store Titan superglue for years without a problem. You get four small tubes for a dollar, which is great. You’re not out of pocket much if your open one dries out. I’ve also been using Walmart Colour Place flat spray as primer… $2.97 a can. Works on metal or plastic. Never had a single model peel in the 10 years I’ve been using it. I’d rather spend my money on mini’s! Well, maybe not this one lol.
Humbrol liquid poly Plastic Glue has been noted. Always good to hear advice like this as getting a good glue can be tricky.
Humbrol liquid poly is indeed good. I have found that it creates a great bond, but have found issues on very small surface areas with some model – unless the are nice flat connections.
My he is a big fella, and I am not talking about the size of his staff.
Need better pictures but cautiously optimistic. Seems suitably powerful rules wise – but its the other character mentioned in his rules and what else comes with this that is intriguing.
But the real question goes unanswered, where are the knights in shiny armour, where is my ser pouncalot
Busy eating cheese
More helpfully early next year according to reliable sources
It seems the big bad of the Warhammer world is back with a vengeance. I like the model, though I do think that it might benefit from a darker and more sinister colour scheme. As for the rules; in the fluff Nagash is arguably the single most powerful sorcerer ever to exist within the Warhammer universe, and was pretty much a god at the height of his powers. He did after all effectively create both the Undead factions in the Warhammer world almost single handedly, and even managed to come within a trice of duffing up Sigmar himself, despite the… Read more »
