Fantasy Flight Launch Dreadfleet Spin-Off?
March 8, 2012 by brennon
No this isn't a new game based on the stand-alone set from Games Workshop. Fantasy Flight Games are instead releasing a Print-on-Demand card set for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Dreadfleet Captains...
Dreadfleet Captains allows you to go on the adventure the boxed game set out. Fight against Count Noctilus or hunt in the pubs and docks of the Old World for rumours of the fleet before setting out for a piratical adventure.
The set contains monsters, encounters, items and personalities from the game. So if your looking for a high seas adventure then this might be for you.
Will you add to your Dreadfleet experience with this?

Lets hope it sells better than Dreadfleet did :p
Well…
– it won’t be limited edition,
– it won’t be £70 for an unknown amount of enjoyment,
– it will be an FFG release and therefore likely good quality,
– it will give those who DO like Dreadfleet a cool expansion of a sort.
It will definitely sell better. 🙂
So is that effectively the game without the minis and accessories?
Well it allows you to interact through a roleplay with the characters of the game and essentially finish the story at a more personal level. Instead of just blowing his ship to kingdom come, you get to fight him man to man.
Could be alright I suppose as an alternative adventure from the norm.
BoW Ben.
Just to be clear here – this is not a game per se, or an addition to Dreadfleet, it’s an expansion for the WH RPG.
ARRRRR!!!!!
Dreadfleet is a fantastic game with great minis, really nice rules, and a minimum of silliness. The fact that it didn’t “sell out” is painful.
Now, the fact that FF isn’t releasing a card-game product that can interact with the box?
Fail.
