Call Of The Beastmen Expansion Coming To Warhammer: Total War
July 15, 2016 by brennon
The team at Creative Assembly have a big new chunk of DLC coming to Total War: Warhammer this month on the 28th July. The Beastmen are appearing from their woodland haunts and will be threatening The Empire and beyond in this Campaign & Race Pack...
This set will give you the new Beastmen race for the Grand Campaign along with all manner of new units to start despoiling the lands of The Empire.
- New Beastmen Race in the Grand Campaign
- Two New Playable Legendary Lords
- New “An Eye For An Eye” Story Campaign
- Hordes of New Unique Units, Monsters, Heroes, Magic and Game Features
You can see the look of the brutal Beastmen in the trailer above and I have to say the thought of using them on the Grand Campaign map sounds exciting!
One of the other big things is the Story Campaign you get with this as well which allows you to play as Beast-Lord Khazrak The One Eye as he battles against Boris Todbringer, his arch-nemesis, on a condensed and personalised campaign map following the struggle between the two and other Beastmen clans.
The Beastmen play like a mix of the Greenskins and the Warriors of Chaos. They will have no fixed base of operations, leading to a roving murderous spree where you will be laying low cities and either reaping the rewards to bolster your forces or erecting despicable monuments to your Gods.
They will also have a similar mechanic to the Greenskins in terms of their infighting where you must keep fighting to keep them 'happy'. Another aspect of their gameplay from the tabletop which has been translated over is the use of Ambush as their preferred tactic where you will be catching other armies unawares.
As well as getting the brutal Khazrak The One Eye there will also be the second Legendary Lord Bray-Shaman, Malagor The Dark Omen who will be able to wield the Lore of the Wild.
You can find out more on the Steam Store Page and learn about the units in detail.
Will you be getting this?

The Old World lives after all. Yeah. After the horribly cheesy Vampire trailer this is lookig really good again. Being in-game graphics there are some odd moments in a cinematic close up look naturally. But they don’t matter at all, if the script and pacing is neat, the atmosphere feels right and there are no clicheed sillynesses. As often with this game you can discern elements they took directely from miniatures or art work. Yet, they didn’t just copy but made their own looks and style within the established design. These quirks make it less generic and standardized and more… Read more »
Is it even possible to do a Warhammer version of what is basically Dracula (Vlad might argue with that admittedly) without hamming it up in best Bella Lugosi/Christopher Lee style?
This looks great! As a herd player I love it. I $18 is steep for DLC but I’ll get this one at least.
It has it’s own campaign: ” An Eye For An Eye is a compact Story Campaign that pits the Beastmen in a berserk guerrilla war against mankind. The theatre of conflict is a bespoke campaign map representing the densely forested landmass stretching from The Reikland Channel in the West to Hochland in the east. The player assumes the role of Legendary Beast-Lord Khazrak The One Eye as he lays waste to the lands of men and attempts to slay his nemesis Boris Todbringer, the Graf of Middenheim. Other Beastmen tribes lurk in the wild woodlands however, and a great show… Read more »
Beastsmen as dlc, will lizardmen be dlc i wonder
They are going to make all of the Warhammer Fantasy races from 8th Edition part of the game eventually yes.
yep, and in a year we can buy all of that for about 20 Euro during one of the inevitable steam sales.
(plus Creative Assembly will have fixed the most annoying bugs by then too … )
I kind of wished the core game had more content at release. I don’t mind waiting.
very nice, but I wish they’d release the Bretonnians already…
I always liked the artwork for the Beastmen, but the figures never quite clicked for me. This is a perfect port into the computer game, with lots of character and atmosphere. I particularly liked the long rush from the wood into the camp. It felt like a stampede and differentiated the faction from other horde armies.
The story campaign sounds like a very nice change of pace from the usual grand campaign map game play, and the games developers have really nailed the feral look and feel of the Beastmen as a faction, complete with their hatred of civilisation and their weird sense of entitlement to the wild places of the Old World.
I agree the price is a bit steep, but with a campaign and considering that they seem to have nailed the beastmen, I think I’ll buy it.
looks great.
Watching this makes me think that if GW had wanted to then they could have had a good shot at producing a decent CGI WHFB film if they’d outsourced it to the right company. Shame they nuked the world…
It’s fantasy, anything can happen. Even worlds can be remade and start anew. The Oldhammer can come back if it truly generates enough desire for high sales.
