A Bone Dragon Is Summoned For Warhammer: The Old World

Games Workshop dropped another preview for Warhammer: The Old World over the weekend. This time, fortune favours the Tomb Kings Of Khemri as we got a look at a new plastic kit that will be leading the way for large armies. See what you think of the deadly Necrolith Bone Dragon.

Whilst the image above showcases a Necrolith Bone Dragon with Tomb King on its back, you can also host a High Priest on the back of one of these undying beasts. The Tomb King is set up in such a fashion that he can strike down at the foes around him whilst the High Priest shelters beneath a canopy so that he can deal with his foes in comfort. If you do go with the High Priest then the Tomb King can be used to make a Monarch Of Nehekhara on foot which is nice.

You even get yourself a nice mummified cat to cap things off. An impressive miniature and it's good that this is going to be in plastic! I don't imagine that this Necrolith Bone Dragon is going to be finding its way into too many starter armies for the Tomb Kings but if you have some armies sitting in storage this could be a great way to lead your dusty undead as they shamble back to the tabletop.

With some big miniatures like this on the way, I'm utterly fascinated to see what the other launch factions get. Dwarfs are on that list as are the High Elves and they are both factions that I am drawn to when it comes to The Old World's return. Has this new miniature drawn you towards the Tomb Kings as your army for Warhammer: The Old World?

It’s quite nice but as I’ve seen elsewhere a dragon doesn’t feel very Tomb Kings.
I’d have said that rather than GW investing in these new kits, why not put the money into new TK skeleton regiments? The preview video for this model showed the ‘classic’ models in the background. They’re not great….
I quite liked the Tomb Guard-looking models. They looked better than the metal guards I remember for the faction, but them not being amongst the reveals surprised me a bit.
I do agree that the dragon feels a bit out of place and that the skellybobs are starting to show their age.
Not a bad concept. In hindsight an obvious addition to the range. Overall I think it looks good. Nice to see that the Old World will be getting significant new big kits.
Good looking throne but the bone dragon looks like crap. No two ways about it, unfortunately.

When GW split the undead into Vampire Counts and the Tomb Kings, I wasn’t a fan; and I’ve become far less as the ranges continue.
Always loved the Tomb Kings. Don’t mind this model at all so will probably add it to my collection, depending on the price tag.
£95, and that’s if you’re lucky :p
I like it but.. isn’t the anatomy of the dragon 100% inexplicable and wrong?
Or is it a bone construct rather than an actual skeleton?
