Happy Sunday!

Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday!!
Woot! I’m on the first page! The virtue of being up during the wee hours of the morning! 😀
I could definitely use the Wander chibi figs as Morlocks for my Bakunin! They have a Total Availability and I could use these as unique poses and annoy my more serious opponents.
Win-Win!!
@dignity love your idea of ‘edging the forest with hedging’, go for it mate!
Happy Sunday!
Looking forward to seeing Justin’s forest – sounds like it going to look like someone is farming trees but maybe it’ll look okay. That terrain rule sounds rubbish though
On resculpts – it would be fine if GW went back and do but none of them will end up in Start Collecting boxes. None of the boxes have anything new in them – that’s why the cool new armies don’t have boxes and it doesn’t look like they are going to get them any time soon.
I’m thinking of the Diggaz from the planet gorka morka. They are an Outlandish human group living as they are orks.
That’s exactly what I though when Ben said “driving around in buggies”
@dignity The inqusition are an own codex since 2013. You can make nice warbands with them, but in the end you usally ally in them in another imperial army
awesome to wake up and watch this – gets me inspired – so happy i joined backstage
Happy Sunday! Is there a need for 80’s style minis… I say yes. Its all about personal preference and what our influences are. I have been gaming since the late 70’s so to me the 80’s style is just more pleasing to look at and in my opinion has a ‘soul’ that the more modern miniatures are lacking. I also harks back to the discussion a few weeks ago about miniatures being an art form or not, you will never find a consensus that everyone will agree on because we all like what we like! Well I’ve had my traditional… Read more »
I’m not sure the sculpt of a mini has as much to do with it feeling like it has soul as knowing the background about them.
For example in 40K the armies I know something about because I’ve read their book or something have more of a soul (which is created by familiarity and faction understanding?) than an army I know less about.
But I’d say there’s inevitably an nostalgia effect here as well.
Absolutely loved today’s XLBS , can’t put my finger on why (and NO it has nothing to do with Warren’s absence) , Got my new sylvaneth Branchwych, base coated and washed while it was on. If I was to do a new 40K army I’d like them to do the Hrud or the denezins of the Ghoul stars or the Demiurge (because I was a squats player ……………..which is still why I don’t 40K as much as I could ….I am still hurting ….. still!!!!! …… sob …and don’t give me they never had a book rubbish…………. I had my… Read more »
I wish you had an edit button I’ve spelt denizen wrong …… bugger…… now I look like an idiot (okay, okay , MORE of an idiot)
Whose cliff is best? Only one way to find out!
Happy Sunday! Hopefully the Sunday when two individual British sportsmen pick up our spirits for a few brief moments…
Hmmm… usual shenanigans trying to watch this on my tablet; keeps stopping and ocassionally restarts but usually resets! Where’s my laptop…?
I think what we’re seeing from GW is less complacency. A few years ago they could get away with an “if you build it, they will come” attitude to the market as the general availability and accessibility of alternative systems/models etc gave them an advantage with their high street stores ..
With more slick marketed, available and accessible competition they’ve had to up their value proposition and I think that’s becoming most apparent in the Age of Sigmar strategy. Free warscrolls? Free Apps? Discounted bundles? These were all unthinkable 5 years ago.
A new 40K faction? How about some ‘Universal Spirit’ army? A very ethereal force that exists in multiple dimensions and can be a very different form factor from the very physical factions. Lots of Psyche attacks and ability to absorb standard attacks.
Just imagine how creative the sculpts could be?
Happy Sunday! I’d say modern people are closer to the imperium than the tau empire. A bit more socialism and co-operation would probably put us in better stead.
Regarding a new 40k faction. I almost feel like the stage is set for the inevitable, and has been for decades. I think a cataclysmic event needs to happen to allow new races to make an appearance rather than saturating the same situation/”snap shot in time” with more factions.
I would not be adverse to new factions but sub factions for existing factions feels more natural if you want to conserve the “snap shot in time”. This is just a knee jerk opinion subject to change.
50K?
Haha catchy
More socialism? Tell that to the Russians or Germans lol
Find for the Square to return maybe
That was meant to say “Time for the squats to return maybe”
Tell it the way it is brother =)
Guess I’m in the ‘Too much GW/ AoS (and things like that/ ‘n’stuff)’ faction.
More historicals *please*!
Well to respond to Ben’s comments, I’d think either a Rogue Trader army is a option, or Necromunda as a game with multiple factions would be an idea. Also the old 3rd edition IG codex had lots of ideas for Imperial Guard variants, they could explore IG a bit more.
Cheers,
Happy Sunday guys.
Oh what a Happy Sunday! It’s Weekender time and Justin call my nickname on the show! Whooo ! Tans, Tanks, Tanks and a Stug!! Wheeeha!
Yeah! Happy Sunday all!
And I made my victory dance too! ^_
Thanks Beasts of War! ^_^
All the models in that Chaos starter start are from the WFB range including the cavalry so they’re nothing new. And yes it was cheap from GW and they should be re-sculpted for extra dynamism .
Happy Sunday!
For a new 40k faction, bring in some of the races seen during the Great Crusade (pre-30k), like the Megarachnids, or the Hrud, or “the one that I cant remember the name of” (Crystaline-like constructs mentioned in one of the HH novels)
That may be the auretian’s its the system Fulgrim got the chaos tainted sword?
Justin spoke, he’s wrong. 🙂
But.. when he’s right… he’s right! 😉
Really felt for Justin this morning. Would prefer to listen to ideas and opinions discussed in a constructive way rather than them being shouted down.
For a new 40k army I think a good idea would be a abhuman/mutant army. I remember when White Dearf used to do profiles for all sorts like humans that lived on planets that were always dark so they became albino like with night vision etc. Would be really cool to see humans with unique special rules and abilities
Happy Sunday!
@dignity I’m more on Lloyd’s side – thinking you should make cool looking bases for your trees and forests. But make a hedge-worm and proof I’m wrong. 🙂
Doug Hamilton from Privateer Press needs to change his name. Or you guys need to stop name dropping him. It’s disconcerting to hear my exact name crop up in the middle of the weekender.
Unless it’s for prize winning of course… 😉
