Warhammer Becomes A Slaughterfest With New Skarbrand Model
September 26, 2015 by brennon
The teaser images earlier in the week were on the money. Skarbrand is going up for pre-order over on the Games Workshop website for Warhammer 40,000. The slaughterer of millions and exiled Bloodthirster of Khorne is going to be stepping into battle once more in Age of Sigmar too...
Blood & Skulls
He is quite the impressive looking Bloodthirster I think even if others have said they don't particularly like him. I like what they've done with his ripped and tattered wings and the axes he's holding look very dangerous indeed.
I like that they've also given him quite the impressive beard which I always appreciate. On close inspection of his face and the rest of the model while it looks like a bit of a mess and busy it is actually incredibly well detailed.
Rules wise he is a dangerous foe to face in Warhammer 40,000 with a special rule that gives him a bellowing roar that actually hurts you. You won't be able to check out his other rules however until you break open a copy of White Dwarf and have a read.
His incarnation in Age of Sigmar also has some pretty devastating rules...
His roar rules carry over allowing him to boil the blood within his foes with a bellow but his real power comes in the fuelling of his rage. The amount of damage he does and the attacks he makes rise with the amount of wounds he has suffered. He also goes ballistic when he hasn't fought anything at all.
Other options are also open to him at different levels of rage giving him a chance to re-roll charge distances and wound rolls for example. You can find out more HERE via his Warscroll.
What do you think of him as a big new beastie for you to add to your Daemon army?

I like everything about him but the way he’s holding the axes. I’d do a bit of chopping and replace the hafts so he’s holding them much further down. It’d make him even bigger looking and give the impression that he’s actually swinging them.
What a beast!
Nice model, I like the detail and I like the style. As irredeemable said I would probably change the way he is holding his axes but toher than that I think he is great.
He is also £80, which means I will not be buying him.
I am with you, and as the Fantasy scene locally have been nuked, I have less “need” for him – I played him a few times in 8th and he changed the game a little with some battle wide rules
Beautiful ‘mini’…. For a premium price. But, what a central piece to any chaos army.
It’s horrible. Just by adding heaps of ‘details’ doesn’t make it better. A bit OTT for me. I’ll stick with the FW version of the beast.
Deja-vu or what!
Now that is one extra angry rage daemon. Now that we can get a better look at him, I like the many different instances of injury and damage that have been added to the model to depict his punishments from Khorne and being hurled bodily across the Realm of Chaos, especially the way that all the most serious damage to his person – the blind eye, broken horns, protruding cheek bone, cracked fangs and shattered shoulder guard – are all on the right hand side of his body. I guess we now know how he landed. It is also interesting… Read more »
…my wife gets way more angry than that when I forget to empty the rubbish bin in my workroom and she slops ‘something’ onto her foot!
But of course – nothing matches the terror of an angry significant other. What we don’t see in the AoS/40k fluff is the instances where Khorne is forced to abandon his bloody rampages early because he hasn’t fixed the leaky sink/mowed the lawn/taken out the rubbish yet.
When he hears his mistress’ voice, his only recourse is to meekly say ‘yes dear’ and get right on it. To do otherwise is to call down genuine rage upon his own head
You don’t mess with Mrs Khorne… 😉
Only thing that I like about this one is ragged wings. Other than that this one is pretty much meh IMO.
I like this over the Bloodthirster model any day.
Tzeentch and Slaanesh when?
Like the mini, but a few extra quid bags you Krull from the Darklands range! So much extra detail and quality in the Krull model imho. In fact I plan on using Darklands miniatures to play AoS…… well, until we get the Darklands rules that is.
Let’s be honest, Darklands and many other companies design their models to be proxies for GW models. I see only two reasons to buy from them over GW models and that be the proxies are made (sculpted or cast) better than them or the price range is lower to make it much more affordable the GW offers. I will say most, not all of Darklands proxies are better than the GW versions.
I personally feel that Darklands miniatures as a whole are the industry best quality and detailed. Sure they ar not the cheapest, but they are not trying o be either. You can quite ccnvinsingly have a complete force of Darklands miniatures as an AoS force. Sure, they are both concentrating on a different kind of aesthetic, but its totally feasible. I have plenty of the Darklands models and everyone that sees the kits are blown way at the tinyest of details throught he model/range. Have a check of them at a gaming convention and you’ll see. 🙂
So many smelling miss takes, so little edit function! Doh!
We used to buy stuff from Hong-Kong when you could get Kolek Suneater – beautiful mini. Dave has all these weird Primarchs bootleg minis that are very nice.
Still tons of them coming out of Russia
I like how his pose matches the striding forward pose of the double page bloodthirster sketch in the Liber Khorne book. I always hoped they would make a model to match that.
I honestly think his armor looks less gaudy then many of the other minis we have seen. Thumbs up!
No thanks. This inspired me to buy the Mom Miniaturas one… for 40 euros.
I wonder how many of the people saying they like the model are actually going to buy it?
Not me, but only because Khorne – and Chaos in general – aren’t my faction. I am collecting a modest Stormcast force while I wait for more information on AoS Undead.
I like loads of models, but I’ve run out of room.
Amen there Davey boy!
Yeah Titans tend to hog space I imagine!
Especially when they are still in the box 😐
lol!
GW need sales not pretty but unaffordable models.
nice paint job.
Certainly a showstopper of a mini.
Painting this beast will be like having a second job…
