Warhammer Fest Tickets Up Now From Games Workshop!
July 23, 2014 by brennon
Warhammer Fest is going to be the replacement for Games Day from Games Workshop and it's rolling out this year in October across the weekend of the 11th and 12th (Saturday & Sunday). See what you think of the format this time around...
On Saturday they will be running Seminars, meetings with the Design Team, Demo Pods concerning a range of different avenues in the hobby and Archives a mass of different miniatures and artwork from the past for you to look at.
Sunday is much the same but without the Archives part and instead welcoming Golden Demon as usual for you to gawk over and wish your painting was as good. This should get some people kicked into gear so they can decide what they're going to paint!
This certainly sounds like an interesting direction for the day and while it's a bit more out of the way in the Ricoh Arena in Coventry it might not be such a bad thing to have a fresh start. A bit of a pain of course to be there over two days - I quite liked the single day experience - but if there is enough to see and do then one can't complain.
What do you think?

“Warhammer Fest is a celebration of everything about the worlds of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000; the miniatures, the backgrounds, the stories and the games. You will encounter fantastic miniatures displays, seminars by our design teams, in-depth demonstrations and inspiring Design Studio displays.”
There seems to be a game conspicuous by its absence. Is there a ban on Hobbits buying tickets?
I guess they forgot…such a shame. I love the Hobbit game 🙁
It doesn’t bode well for its future.
Didn’t seem to be anyone playing it when I used to paint at GW. Loved the mini’s, and would have bought buckets of them had they been produced in 28mm vice 25mm. Don’t know if that’s part of the problem but I think the game might be going the way of the dodo.
I think I’m right in saying that it was part of GWs license agreement that the Lotr/Hobbit miniatures could not be the same scale as GWs other ranges. I’m not sure what the reasoning behind this was, but I don’t think GW had a choice. These days it feels like GW only produce a bit of Hobbit stuff with each film because they are contractually obliged to do so. Their last few releases have been poor quality and overpriced. I honestly think GW can’t wait for the whole Hobbit thing to be over so that they can concentrate all their… Read more »
This is great! First I’m glad it’s finally on a Saturday, as I hate travelling on a Sunday, and secondly I’m glad it’s been split into two days with a cheaper ticket too, which means that I can afford it more. I can just go in for the seminars, hear what interesting things they have to say, grab anything that interests me, and get home! So I think I will go this year, as I didn’t bother with last year’s one, which sounded bad. Good choice GW!
Already got my ticket (Sunday only though). May bring the old man along, been 11 years since I dragged him to a GW event.
On reflection; travelling to the venue is a bit of pain, in having to take two buses from Coventry station, or a taxi, after already changing trains beforehand. Travel to the NEC for the last Games Day is what also put me off from going last year. Wish they’d chosen some place closer to a train station.
Picked up tickets for both days, I’ll give anything a go once.
