New Warhammer Community Site Online From Games Workshop
November 16, 2016 by brennon
The Warhammer Community website has now popped up online from Games Workshop. The idea is that it will be filled with all manner of videos, articles, release sneak peeks and more for you to enjoy following the games they make.
An additional 'Meet The Team' video also popped up where they talk about a few of the things they're going to be focusing on.
This certainly sounds like a neat idea and it will be good to see where they take the project going forward. So far they've added in a few tactical articles, some hobby and of course plenty of videos from Duncan and Co. as they explore their Daily Tips series.
Will you be following this?

…enter room 101! Don’t drink the cool-aid.
p.s., does that picture of the ‘team’ remind you of anything?
Well if Jesus turned into Keanu Reeves and moved a couple of seats then….no.
@unclejimmy wanna venture a guess which one is the Virgin Mary?
…all the dudes?
I don’t normally agree with your opinions on Games Workshop but this made me spit out my whisky (yes, I’m away on business and I’ve got cock all else to do of an evening except drink Whisky and read Beasts of War; rock and indeed, roll)
usual suspects ?
They should have employed the BOW team to layout their site, it’s a bit of a mess!
Why am I getting the impression that this community site (at least 10 years too late) will operate on the basis of “Talk what we (GW) want you to talk about!”
Because that’s how most company forums run. It’s a space for enthusiasts to enjoy and explore their hobby, not for people to vent their frustrations or fall into endless back-and-forth arguments. The community doesn’t need another BoLS.
I agree 🙂
It’s very encouraging to see this type of engagement, I really hope it works out for them 🙂
However, I didn;t see anywhere to post a comment or thread on the site, am I missing something?
Nope it’s not there. I’m not sure that qualifies it as a “community” site since the community can’t actually take part. More of a blog about their corporate community. Still let’s see if they’ll add it later.
Yeah no comments or forums etc, seems to be more of an aggregation of the GW store, black library, FW and WD blogs into one coherent site.
Never know they may one day throw open the doors to interaction or they may just keep that to twitter and facebook…
I’m not a business guy, but I still don’t understand why this whole marketing thing has to be such a complex problem: hire better artists and make better models for less money.
You will be right. See how long before they close it. They did it last time when people started complaining.
I’m sure BoW are worried!
Wacoshop forum: “you are free to discuss what we tell you!”
zucht……….
Was it really complaining though? As in constructive criticism or requests to change direction or heartfelt pleas for more of their favourite things…… or was it just troll-tastic vitriol by prepubescent lunatic internet tw@’s?
I quite often get the feeling on the interweb that people misunderstand the difference between the freedom of speech and the freedom of screech (as Charlie Brooker calls it). One requires heavy moderation the other does not.
A shame that “troll-tastic vitriol by prepubescent lunatic internet tw@’s” most often equates to anyone at odds with your worldview.
If you have evidence of that then by all means re-quote me. But *there is* plenty of evidence of your comments straying from criticism into trolling and you have already been warned as such by the moderators of this site. Because of your complicity in such activity I can understand that my last paragraph regarding the difference between critique and trolling is a fuzzy concept for you. So I’ll try and help you avoid a total ban (I’m being genuine when I say this site would not be the same without you) by making the whole clearer for you. Freedom… Read more »
Good idea, needs a lot of work
Seems the community can’t actually taking part at this stage..hmm, odd. Well, let’s wait and see. I’ve subscribed.
I think this will be shut down right quick if they let people exercise their right to free speech… or the dissenters will be edited to the point where this becomes nothing more than an Information Ministry.
They will introduce ‘wacospeak’ – not as weird as you might think. The first edition is 5″ thick, but 2nd edition will be thinner. It will cost more if you buy the digital copy and is out of date by next week.
It then becomes a 3rd rate 4th edition and is bought by a toy company. True story.
I am excited by this.
I know there are so many people who are just s used to GW bashing, but each week I feel more and more encouraged by how GW is trying new things and trying to turn itself around.
The products feel exciting again, the price points allow impulse buys as well as things to save for, and the range and innovation is beginning to show again. I had all but given up on GW about 15-18 months ago,an now I am excited again.
…and then you woke up! Hasbro time is approaching.
I’m just glad to see the old light hearted side of GW, it’s been a long time coming but I for one am willing to cut them some slack and see how this progresses.
I’ve noticed that. There’s a light-heartedness about their social media presence of late. I find that even though I don’t buy much GW (at the moment) I do enjoy their video channels immensely
I agree, I have ignored GW in general for a long time but I feel they are doing their best to connect with old and new customers.
The guys putting out the content are also entertaining. The painting videos by Duncan and Emma are so.easy to follow and there’s quite a bit of banter in the videos as well. Now there’s the newer Warhammer TV videos that are very entertaining (i.e. not just an advert) and they’ve carried on the banter. The video showing you how to paint the gaming mats with the sly little jibe about putting water in the iron, the little comments about finding plastic sisters of Battle in the bin. All in all I’m actually enjoying watching their Youtube content at the moment
Well least it will surely be interesting to see how this will turn out. Hopefully GW won’t be censoring forum and allowing users to actually talk about things instead of forcing everyone only write what GW wants them to write. After all we have been seeing free speech being violated by companies like WotC to silence people that don’t think certain way.
sounds like a good idea is this signs of the tanker is changing coarse?
I don’t think you’ll ever see any forum section on this sight. GW know’s there’s plenty of other sites people use to talk about their games and it they open one up it will just attracted the worse of the worse out there.
Here’s a question though. Fo they need a Forum as well as a Facebook page? Generally speaking I prefer fora because they’re more structured and easier to search and go back and look at older posts. However if you’re trying to generate discussion about new products then as a company you probably don’t want people talking on older threads, you want attention on the shiny new products and Facebook tends to do this very well with older posts gradually getting lost in the weeds. Their videos are almost entirely on YouTube so if you’re trying to look for a specific… Read more »
Hope people will be constructive and given the chance to add to this. Other wise it will not really appeal to the masses or the hobbyist.
Oh God they are so awkward! I love it! I think it’s funny how, after ditching this kind of community interaction so long ago, they are now approaching it like their a bunch of aliens, trying their best to blend in… Wait…….. Hold on………. What if…………. Nahhhh
If this video had come out before the genestealer cults announcement, I would have said “genestealer cults confirmed” 🙁 missed opportunity ey?
OK, sorry to flood this, just went on the new site there… There is absolutely nowhere to post a comment. It’s an advert board. One article told me to go to Facebook to comment. False alarm everyone, gw still don’t have a community.
Yes they do, it’s on Facebook. I can see the advantage of doing that. They don’t have to pay for someone to maintain any community forums and they only have to moderate one set of comments. It makes sense to redirect discussion to a single source and Facebook requires the least amount of effort to run
I honestly haven’t been a GW customer for several years now, but as it was my original gateway into mini game stuffz … I read the occasional post here and there, look at what they have in their product line … read the odd BoW post … etc. I have a persistent fantasy of playing 4th edition 40K in 6/10/15mm someday … I have to say that what they have done the past few years, if they had done it five years ago, would have been just what it would have taken to pull me back into their orbit. For… Read more »
Still a lot of ‘Epic’ stuff popping up on EBay, and if you’re into Fantasy, Warmaster.
