Eldritch Omens, the brand new Battlebox from Games Workshop for Warhammer 40,000, is going to be up for pre-order this weekend. Are you tempted to snap this up for the new Aeldari and Heretic Astartes miniatures?

The new set focuses on a clash between the Aeldari and Heretics Astartes on "a doomed world". On the side of the Aeldari, we have a new plastic Autarch which can be armed with all manner of interesting weapons and accessories. It is also fully compatible with the existing Autarch with swooping hawk wings.

As well as the new Autarch, we also have the new plastic Rangers who are going to be slinking around in the background ready to take out your commanders. The Rangers are super nice as a kit and it's nice to see them get a good update in plastic. I will certainly be picking some of these up.
The last new unit for the Aeldari are the Shroud Runners. These are jetbike mounted snipers who can zip around the battlefield and pick away at the flanks of your opponent's army. For those wondering how those Rangers hit anything, they enter into a trance so that they can focus entirely on their targets. Very Aeldari...
On the Heretics Astartes side of things, the Chaos Space Marines get mostly new miniatures. Starting things off is the very nice new Warpsmith.

The Warpsmith looks great, especially with all of those mecha-tendrils writhing around him and getting ready to melt things into a puddle of goo. It's a nice Dark Mechanicum-style twist and you could certainly see him being one of those stoic, silent killers who believes in delivering death efficiently.
The Chaos Space Marines of the Heretics Astartes also get the five new plastic Chaos Chosen. I would imagine that a lot of folks are going to take these miniatures and work on some different weapon options for them. It will be interesting to see what other weapon options they have as part of the new plastic kit.
Capping things off, the forces of Chaos also get a Forgefiend/Maulerfiend. It fits the Warpsmith who is leading the charge but it would have been nice to see Chaos get all new miniatures just like the Aeldari.
Will You Be Pre-Ordering?
This will be the first time that you'll be able to get your hands on these miniatures. However, if you're a Chaos or Aeldari fan who can wait a little bit longer, there's no reason to buy this right away. All of these miniatures will be available separately later on down the line. Everything we've seen previously in Battleboxes comes up maybe four or five weeks down the line so you're not going to miss out.
It also might be a good idea to wait for the new Codex/Codexes to land for these armies so you can work out if the new models are worth the investment! However, if you've got a friend who wants the other half of this box, go for it!
Which faction do you prefer from Eldritch Omens?

Yep – good to have the updates!
Those new Eldar look really good.
A lot to like in this box for both factions. Eldar players have waited over 22 years for an updated model so it is long over due and honestly the chosen choas space marines are long in the tooth as well. The fact the chosen kit plus the two leaders come with a range of choice in terms of load out, heads and not just mono pose is a great step in the right direction. Some may question how they are going to Snipe anything from the back of the moving bike. Well I should remind you these are Eldar… Read more »
