There was lots to get our heads around this weekend from Games Workshop as they talked about how things are going to be expanding with the War On Vigilus, the epicentre of battle and strife in the world of Warhammer 40,000. BUT, before all that we have the most important news, the Noise Marines are back!

Noise Marine - Games Workshop

Now that is a blast from the past. This Noise Marine has been sculpted using modern techniques but is based on Jes Goodwin’s original sketches. You might notice that as well as the wild colours on the miniature they've also thrown in that Goblin Green base to help power through that nostalgia.

Games Workshop is very good at the old marketing these days and whilst I don't think I could give this miniature the justice it deserves I'd still love to have one in my collection for the sheer wow factor.

The Battle For Vigilus

Things are hotting up on Vigilus which has been the place where many of the major conflicts during this new edition of Warhammer 40,000 have been taking place. There is a twist here however as an old character comes back to the tabletop to lead the Ultramarines in their latest endeavours.

Marneus Calgar #1 - Games Workshop

This new version of Marneus Calgar comes armed with the Gauntlets Of Ultramar as you can see but he is also wearing new Primaris armour, reforged by his lord to fight on the battlefield at his side.

I'm sure he was very happy to have a Primarch to fall back on when it came to matters of command!

Things are getting interesting down on the planet Vigilus though...

...and that means we're going to be seeing a new campaign book, Vigilus Defiant.

This new book will help tell new stories from the doomed planet with the Imperium holding out against Xenos threats from all sides. It will allow you to play more campaigns and scenarios and focuses in on one particular threat from the Black Legion itself led by Haarken Worldclaimer.

He has sent forth a proclamation that the world of Vigilus will fall to him and the Warmaster within eighty days. This might be the biggest challenge the Imperium has faced so far and it will be interesting to see what he has up his sleeve when it comes to taking Vigilus.

Additionally, you'll also be able to play out some new scenarios set amongst the ruins of this world with the Urban Conquest supplement too.

So, if you're looking for more rules and scenarios for getting stuck into urban warfare this book should lead you down the right path. With the Black Legion coming you'd have thought that other factions might give it a rest but no, the Genestealer Cult is also on the way!

Cultists Hit The Road

The Genestealer Cult are getting themselves some cool new miniatures that offer them new options when it comes to Fast Attack. Leading the way we have some Quad Bikers...

...as well as some actual Bikers too. The Genestealer Cult is always good at working with the equipment they can snap up from facilities on the planets they take over and you could imagine a lot of this popping up at mines and factories as well as simply being owned by the populace.

These fellows are very much in the interesting Mad Max vein and it would be neat to see this expanded. The Genestealer Cult are not a force that I would have thought would really expand beyond a skirmishing army but their time seems to have come.

They have some fascinating miniatures as part of their collection and the range is wonderful for those who like their painting.

Also, much like with the Orks I would suggest that the Genestealer Cult are a great army for those who like to get stuck into their bitz bashing as they are scroungers!

Mighty Titans

We've seen plenty of little Titans over the past few months but Forge World wanted to assure us that there is another big one coming. This is the towering Warbringer Nemesis Titan.

Yep, as you can see it is huge. It's a gun platform, walker and fortress all at the same time and it is packed with lots of detail.

I think there is quite a lot here for people to get stuck into if you're a Warhammer 40,000 fan. I would love to hear what forces you're playing as right now and I am very tempted to pick up a force for myself even though I don't think I'd ever really get the time to play the game anymore.

It's an exciting time to love your grimdark Sci-Fi games.

What do you think?
