New Void Shield Generator For Warhammer 40,000 Leaked
March 19, 2014 by brennon
It looks like the next White Dwarf from Games Workshop is going to be chock-a-block full of Warhammer 40,000 terrain thanks to some scans that appeared over on Bell of Lost Souls and through Faeit. One of these structures is going to be the limited release of the Void Shield Generator...
From the details that also leaked alongside the images we know that this is going to be limited to 1000 copies and will be produced in resin with pre-cleaned and prepared components. The terrain looks nice, as does most of Games Workshop work, but a limited edition release? Seems a bit crazy to me! Surely they would make more money with a plastic kit of this that everyone could pick up?
Thankfully they are also creating some more plastic terrain for use with Warhammer 40,000. These Quake Cannon Craters looks just right and will make a battlefield look a lot more wartorn and battered. I love these kind of things as they give you some immediate cover and plenty of character too. It reminds me of the old Dawn of War games where sitting in a crater made your Space Marines unstoppable!
Not only cover, the craters will also work as difficult terrain as well which is neat for stopping all those tanks people end up taking.
So a hit and a miss here from Games Workshop?

I hate to say this as an awful lot of work has obviously gone into the generator, but the first thing I thought was that they’ve stuck 4 sonic screwdrivers on the base. That’s all I can see now……
Yup that was my first thought too
You fool! now I only see that! 🙂
Thats how The Master comes back
I shall be a-VOID-ing this release. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, good times. Hmm.
A wonderful model but limited release? Resin rather than plastic (higher price no doubt).
Huge amount of detail, but for such a great Empire Strikes Back reference I wish it wasn’t limited.
At first I thought it was awful, now I am warming to the idea of it being part of a shield generator in an imperial city. Thinking FW boards with this on there somewhere among the cities of death building?
Plus i think FW were working on an industrail tile.
Just checking the date – suspicious about April Fool’s…
I don’t really see the point of modular craters, but why not, maybe they are well done.
But the shield ? First thing i thought was “what’s this sh*t ?!” . Resin limited release ? Price is gonna be jaw dropping while IMO it is absolutely ugly. And it is one more tower. What the heck do they have with towers ?…
This, it’s 4 pylons on a box, not exactly the most exciting thing in the world visually, or to play with.
General Veers, ready your men.
A lot of detail on this piece – shame I would never buy it…
Someone help me… the skulls beccon me to buy this sonic screwdriver pylons of protection… must resist. Okey I resisted and moved on.
Looks a bit cack (Dont normally say this about their stuff) but also its surprisely very…………………………………………..big :-S
the detail is very good, I will add on a positive note
Sold out already.
I think it was interesting to note that the resin comes pre-cleaned and is ready to assemble. That must’ve been a pain to do 1000 of them!
Well if you wanted one it’s too late. According to the GW web site there sold out.
A blue peter project on the cards someone?
This kind of crap reminds me of how much GW has fallen. At one time there would have been an article in WD showing how you could build something similar from plasticard (and probably toilet rolls!) – Now it is sold as a ridiculous overpriced terrain piece. I don’t normally get angry about the stuff that GW does, but that ‘creative’ element (the bit that was the great sell to adults who wanted their kids to do something functional) is getting pushed further and further to the backfield by a company that sees $ as the only reason for its… Read more »
