Space Marines can worship anything as everything is a gift from the Emperor. The Plasma boom in question could of been a high relic handed down from the start of the chapter.
Yeah, if there is a machine-spirit you want to keep placated, it would definitely be the full complement of melta-bombs in your arsenal. 🙂
Maybe he’s sanctifying the melta-bombs because they’ve run out of holy hand grenades from Antioch..

And where are you going to run next boot camps? 🙂
Those changes look great! I would love to have a giant work room like that to be able to work on big projects.
Please, please, please put some sort of stops or pegs on the shelves to keep them from ‘walking’/bumping off the tiny support the hose clamps provide. The models on the bottom shelf will thank you when they are not crushed by the falling weight of the loaded MDF shelves.
The pegs could be small dowels set into the board, or even screw heads protruding from the board with felt glued on to protect the work table.
i don’t think the shelf’s will fall of the hose clamps looks like only a mil or two clearance to prevent any chance of that.
It’s more about them getting knocked backwards past the front clips, tilting and taking out everything below. It would make one hell of a mess, against PVA’ing a couple of blocks on to stop it. Well worth the extra effort to stop that horrible sick feeling when it all goes pear shaped. Which of course will happen when you are in a rush and can ill afford the time to sort it out. Also no one wants to see a crying John cos all his tanks have been taken out by a Northern Irish version of a lifta-dropa!!!
..and for the love of god, please put some sides and a back on each shelf. I can see dozens of models sliding off as soon as the shelf goes from being supported by two clamps down to no clamps and the back of the shelf dips 😀
I have to agree guys, one knock of those shelves and you are going to get a domino effect that will lead to lots of new stuff for the bits box! The idea of sides and a stop are quick and simple and will save a whole load of teeth nashing and bad vibes against the first poor soul that does the inevitable.
I agree also…some kid of rail mounted on the rings would be effective in preventing the shelf from tipping forwards or backwards if only on the front or rear clips. Looks like everyone else is also worried about valuable armies being damaged.
Looking great, when will you scare the poor foot doctor away completely 😉
@warzan I would recommend metal trays then you can add magnets to the figures and elasticated magnets for the vehicles to prevent a major disaster?
Could I suggest a small lip on the edge of the shelf to stop things sliding off if they end up at an angle when transported.
That jubilee clip idea is pure genius!
Stealing that one.
Another idea to consider would to attach small cabinet handles to the front of the wood sheets to make it easier to pull out a section.save on splinters and accidentally shifting an upper shelf and having it fall.
@warzan you get that minotaurs special character I sent you put together?
Is it against any local fire codes to block a door like that?
…enter Keith Lard!
My friend had a similar storage system, but he put the titans and large pieces on a separate shelf. That way there isn’t wasted space above the majority of shorter pieces.
I think they will run out of space, even with all those shelves.look at all that negative space unused. I think they need two methods: shelf storage for current projects and tub storage for archived projects.
That looks like a lot of work. However, it will be nice to have easy access to the armies. Easier all around. Keep up the good work mates!
Genius idea on the jubilee clips, although like the guys i too would be worried about slippages. Although if you were to get some self adhesive magnet sheets (used to make fridge magnets) and covered the surface in them and glued a washer to the base of the mini that should help stop things falling off. Annother thing you could do would be to cut some MDF strips say 70mm x depth of shelf and bore 2 holes the same diameter as the shelf posts, and have those sit on top of the clips to give you more of a… Read more »
BAD IDEA: I would get some clear sheeting to drop down the front of them shelves. Spraying and airbrushing will soon coat those models in crap 🙁
This ^
Space marines with eldar heads is easy fluff, they are deathwatch attached as body guards to Inquisitor Bronislaw Czevak (due to his connections to Ordo Xenos). The helmets offered them protection against a particularly powerful deamon, they continue to wear them as a mark of respect to the fallen eldar who fought by their side and the sacrifices made by the members of that body guard detachment to ensure victory. Lexicanum is your friend 😉
@lloyd just a couple of points, why don’t you catalogue the armies then you know what models you have and then you can store them in a more friendly environment. Secondly those shelves need sliders whilst the clips work if you pull the shelf and miss time it it could fall crashing onto the army below..just a thought.
As a lot of the guys have already mentioned – you need something to stop the boards sliding off, but I’d also point out that the MDF will warp / bow so I’d be tempted to put some extra “rail” for it to sit on….
Loving the Minotaurs army @warzan , almost as large as mine 😉
Thanks for the idea with the hose clamps, I am in the middle of redoing my basement in to a small game room. That will let me repurpose some shelves much more efficiently. Good luck with your project.
I like the changes. Work space organization level expert 😉
The regular cadian army that john bring at 9:55, it would take much less space if the flyer was not on the flying base. I dont know to say it… like … if you remove the flyer from that board, you could use the space that ONE MODEL took, to fit another whole board of low height model above it . Then you could make a flyer only board that would use the vertical space better.
ork boyz are like 1.5 inch but the stumpa… why not put him with the other titan/large-ass-models
less of a display but more functional
What are you going to do when you have more boot camps?
most definitely add some sort of rail onto the clips so they slide in straight. also adding a 1 or 2 inch side and back to the mdf would be a great idea so the minis dont just slide off, or at least some sort of grip on the mdf that will hold the mini secure. like this http://www.brush4hire.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/IMG_0007.jpg
As well as echoing everyone else’s concern about shelves falling off and (less disastrously) wasted space with a few big models being kept with small armies, I worry about the dust.
It won’t be long before your armies are all looking a lot less photogenic. In just a few years’ time they’ll be caked in dust. You could perhaps place units on trays and slide those trays into plastic food / freezer bags? It wouldn’t look very good for displaying models though it would be fairly easy to do.
What Brand of shelving is that? And where could I purchase some? Looking to use it for terrain storage
