We're back for a Community Spotlight which looks towards some more of the projects you've been working on in the Hobby & Painting Forum. This time around we focus on a little bit of History and then some big tanks.

It wouldn't be us if we didn't zero in on our current obsession and so we begin with a look at SAGA.

SAGA Vikings by suetoniuspaullinus

As we're all building up our warbands to fight out battles in the Dark Age we zero in on what suetoniuspaullinus has been doing as he paints up his Warlord, Thorbrand Ragnarsson.

He was then joined by some of his Hearthguard warriors ready to defend their Warlord on the battlefield. We really love what suetoniuspaullinus has been doing here providing you with a very realistic and gritty looking warband to use on the tabletop.

Extra credit goes to that fantastic base work too where you can see someone has been caught by the sharp end of an axe. This is then matched by some of his work-in-progress models that will become part of his warband.

It's great seeing what you can do with some of the other plastic sets out there. The Berserker is made using the Viking bits and also a Celtic Warrior body. The Spearmen Levy are then made out of the standard set. When you mix together a lot of the plastic kits from the Ancient and Dark Age period you can make some unique looking warbands.

Imperial Guard Tanks by captainitalia

Building up his force for the Iron Knights as he calls then we got a look at some fantastic work by captainitalia who painted up this impressive Leman Russ.

captainitalia Leman Russ #1

The paint scheme across this tank is fantastic, with a nice faded look up from the bottom to the top. It makes the tank look realistic, as if it has been working on the battlefield for a really long time. It's nice to see characters clambering atop them too, getting ready to repel the enemy.

Kudos to captainitalia for the freehand work on the tank turret too. You can go and check out more of his work on all manner of interesting projects on his thread and this epic Tank Commander too.

This shows off a lot of interesting techniques that you can use when painting regular tanks as well as Sci-Fi ones. The work on the tracks is amazing and we loved seeing all the dirt and grime. This has created a nice selection of grim-dark tanks but with a splash of colour for good measure.

FAITH Hero by elysium64

With FAITH now on Kickstarter right now looking to fund their new Core Rulebook elysium64 painted up one of the miniatures from the previous campaign and it looks like a fantastic Sci-Fi warrior from the stars.

elysium64 FAITH Miniature #1

It's great seeing the FAITH characters come to life and the painting here is stunning, showing off the under-armour and distinction between the armour plating. The highlighting also works nicely and the black doesn't feel bland!

You can also see some of the organic material showing through under the helmet and it matches nicely with the style of the rest of the model. A clear base really sets this apart too, giving it a cinematic quality. Hopefully, elysium64 will work on some more of their models in the future!
