Tyranids, Terrain & Painting Aids Coming To Warhammer 40,000
November 1, 2017 by brennon
Games Workshop has shown off what's on the way this week for the world of Warhammer 40,000 as well as a new painting aid which might be of use to you.
Leading the way we have the new Codex for the Tyranids landing this weekend. The big bugs of Warhammer 40,000 are making their way to your planet to devour, infest and destroy everything that you hold dear. Awesome.
Ruined Terrain
With that in mind, there are some more terrain pieces hitting the tabletop soon from Moonbase Klaisus. This set used to be available alongside a mat but this is now going to be available separately.
As line-of-sight blocking terrain this is spot on for those who want to add some more scatter terrain into the mix. Your urban environments are going to look a lot better with incidental pieces like these.
Painting Aid
In addition to the terrain and codex on the way, the guys from Games Workshop are going to be releasing their Painting Handle.
This might be a good shout for someone who wants to get ahead when it comes to painting models in a more professional way. Getting your grubby fingers off the model is always a good first step.
Whether or not this is going to be of any use compared to a paint pot or piece of cork - we shall have to wait and see. The price point is probably going to be something to consider too.
What do you think of their plans?

I do like the painting handle, I currently use a rattle can cap and double sided tape but the could be an improvement. Very reasonably priced too.
It could certainly fill a gap in my life ………………………………………………………… 😛
The painting handle will be £5, it was posted on the interwebs from an early WD arrival. @beardragon14 , you will be getting the @deaddave ergonomic limited edition version then 😉 …….
@beardragon14 if it doesn’t work as a paint grip it can probably still fill a gap in your life….. 😉
It does look good, want check ergonomics and if it grip non-bevelled edges. Been looking at the red beam ones as well.
Terrain is nice, the pipes and bits that aren’t shown are really nice.
Probably not grabbing the nid ‘dex but would be great to see them return as that scary ass army they were in second.
@dags ……………….I have no idea, what you are insinuating ………………………………………. 😀 ………………..honest …………………..Really
Sssssssh @beardragon14 we both know … no judgements here 😛
Can the handle hold square bases? And what size/diameter bases does it hold?
Don’t be silly. Sqaure bases have been declared anathema; obsolete at best.
(Less daft answer, that top section _looks_ like it would but I’d see one in the flesh before being certain.)
It can fit any base except the 100mm.
some nice new things from GW.
oooooooh Ben you had me at painting handle
… That’s because he is Mr Sexy-Furious
