Games Workshop has been showing off another new miniature. The Black Templars are coming to the grimdark of Warhammer 40,000 in the near future and they are going to be led by a brand new take on The Emperor's Champion.

When gifted by visions from The Emperor himself, a Black Templar is then confirmed by the Chapter's Chaplains and they begin a new life. They cast off their old armour and weapons and instead lift a Black Sword and wear the Armour Of Faith. Combined with a relic from the vaults, an Iron Halo, the Emperor's Champion is a bastion of faith, fury and redemption on the battlefield.

As you can see, this is a brand new "Primaris" version of the Black Templar which has been significantly levelled up. I really like the more archaic armour style that has been preserved which brings things in line with the knightly look of the Black Templars.

The Emperor's Champion // Warhammer 40,000

Black Templars have a pretty special place in my little hobby heart. When I started collecting Warhammer 40,000 the army after Eldar was Space Marines (of course) and I went all-in on the Black Templars. I made my own Emperor's Champion because I couldn't afford the real metal miniature and had loads of fun playing with my relatively small force on the tabletop.

So, knowing that we're getting a new boxed set for the Black Templars is decidedly tempting. As I say, I really like the look of this particular model and if the others follow suit then I am very much on board. I also know that I can paint them up a little better than I did back in the day!

What do you make of the new take on the Emperor's Champion?
