Space Wolves Clash With Genestealer Cultists In Tooth & Claw
August 13, 2018 by brennon
Games Workshop has another boxed game for Warhammer 40,000 for you to check out. This is another avenue into the grim darkness of the far future where the Space Wolves are clashing with the Genestealer Cult.
Tooth & Claw sees the Space Wolves, now with added firepower and grit from the Primaris Space Marines, battling on Vigilus to try and quash this uprising of Genestealer Cultists before they ravage the planet.
The set comes with new models for both factions with the Space Wolves getting a new Battle Leader that you'll see at the head of this force.
There is a Space Wolves upgrade kit included in this set as a heads up. So, whilst you'll be playing around with the standard kits for the Primaris Space Marines you can then add to them with the accessories to make them fit the appropriate Chapter. Or, you could just use them another Chapter if you wished.
The Genstealers get this hulking behemoth, the Abominant. That is a fellow that I wouldn't want to run into on a dark night and shows off that transformation into a full-on Genestealer.
You also get access to these snarling warriors, the Aberrants!
Once again you can see that change from human into Tyranid here as their bodies are warped by the genetic code pumping through their blood. They have a range of weapon options and ways to make them look unique and I reckon they'd be awesome to paint too.
It should be pointed out that it might look a little one-sided, what with that Redemptor Dreadnought hanging out in the background there, but that leader for the Genestealer Cult is able to smash apart troops and vehicles with that weighty power hammer.
In celebration of this boxed game, you'll also be happy to know that the Space Wolves Codex also lands this weekend giving you another excuse to snap up this force.
Will you be taking a look at this?

Those Space Wolves are literally just Primaris Marines with leader being only new model. How ever those Genestealer Cultists and Abominant are some great looking models.
Aye, they are just Primaris…but as I say in the post you get the upgrade kit to make them fit within the Chapter.
Rule Two, no member of the faculty is to maltreat the Abos in any way at all…. if there’s anybody watching!
This could be a good one I remember Ragnar Blackmane in One of the Space Wolf’s books fighting through the underhive on earth This could be just as good fighting a cult the arbiters discovered and got slaughtered bringing the Wolf’s in to the mix.
I want to want this.
Abherrant minis are pretty nice, not sold on the colour scheme
The rate they are throwing out box sets is bonkers.
GW is going to phase all the old space marine models out, as they switch over the primaris pattern armors. That’s a given. Need to force the old players to buy new models.
“Thats a given” .. Genuinely curious how you came by this special knowledge. I have no doubt that long term that will happen but you seem to be aluding to some imediate timetable?? Please, tell us what you know.
If the models are good enough many players will want to upgrade and don’t need to be forced into it. Honestly I think they made a mistake in giving them different rules, they should have just gone ahead and replaced the old sculpts with new and waited for players to buy in. It is clear to everyone that we won’t see new old style marines released outside of an occasional event piece.
I do think that forcing players to buy new models isn’t smart strategy. There are plenty of those like me who have large collection of old Marines or even two or more armies of those that we have used time, money and effort so dropping rules for those would be huge mistake from GW’s part. Most people happy about idea of GW forcing players to buy new models has either started with Primaris and haven’t been around long enough to have any regular Marines or those that don’t play any Space Marines.
I haven’t played 40K in many years and still have a pile of old marines dumped in a box somewhere. If I were to get back into 40K I’d choose to invest in the new models because they both look so much better and I’d want to do a better job than I did on my old beat up stuff. The separate rules thing is actually a turn off for me because it looks clumsy and confusing to have that in a game. I want a great looking army and that is incentive enough. I’m not sure why some players… Read more »
It’s a nice looking set, will probably be getting at least one set for the cultists.
Although a few space puppy fans are a dash upset that their side of the box is pretty much generic primaris it means that the box will probably appeal to more players as it’s a good value force for any space marine players.
Yup! Going with standard Primaris plus the upgrade sprue means that this box is generally relevant and that people don’t get saddled with a few marines of a set chapter they might not play.
If my nephew insists on getting into 40K and I end up building a force to play him then I’m interested in those ‘stealers, but not necessarily in space wolves. This is a box I’d probably buy and either give him the marines or play about with my own chapter scheme.
I must be old, I know things change, but I miss the days of 1st,2nd and 3rd generation hybrids. The mini’s do look lovely though.
