A Space Marine Tyranid Hunter, New Rules & More For Warhammer 40K
April 5, 2023 by brennon
Games Workshop has been previewing more for Warhammer 40,000 over the last few days. One of the cool previews was for a new Primaris Lieutenant that can be added to your Space Marine army in 10th Edition Warhammer 40,000.

This new Lieutenant was showcased in the latest trailer for Warhammer 40,000. This fellow comes armed with a pair of brutal-looking knives for carving up Tyranids and a new Combi-Bolter with Flamer attachment. He is also laden with grenades and carries plenty of trophies of the beasts that he has killed.
Taking cues from the Reivers and the other Phobos armoured fellows in the ranks of the Space Marines, this chap looks like a deadly killer well worth picking up for a thematic army. It certainly fits with the old-school Tyrannic War Veterans of the Ultramarines but could fit into a variety of Chapters.
It will be interesting to see if there are more "Tyranid" themed Space Marines coming out in the future to match up with what we're seeing here and the unfolding story in 10th Edition.
New Rules
As well as a new Space Marine, we also got a look at the Datasheets that are coming up for 10th Edition and how different they are from what we've seen before.
Terminator Datasheet Card // Warhammer 40,000
One article looked at some of the new Statistics that you will find on your Datasheets whilst another showcased a full look at what the new Terminators get to play with. It's good that everything is now found in one place rather than being spread out over different pages of your Codex. I imagine that certain design cues have been taken from a particular website that does a darn good job of making all this information accessible.
I like that the statistics for weapons now include different variations for Weapon Skill and Ballistic Skill meaning that you can tailor weapons in much more detail. It's good that a bunch of special rules are also highlighted and detailed here on the card so that you can see everything in one place.
It will be interesting to see where things develop and change as Codexes get added into the mix. I do like that Warhammer 40,000 will (at least to begin with) start with free Rules and free Datasheets for everyone to just download. A good way to get everyone started at the same level.
I would really like it if Codexes just became lore books and all of the rules continued to be free, especially with so many Balance Dataslates coming out for the game.
New Boarding Patrols
Last but not least, we also got a look at the final two Boarding Patrols that are coming out from Games Workshop for Boarding Actions.
Leagues Of Votann Boarding Patrol // Warhammer 40,000
The first set comes with five Cthonian Berserks, five Einhyr Hearthguard, ten Hearthkyn Warriors and finally an Einhyr Champion. A solid set of new Space Dwarves for you to drop into your games.
The second one is probably my favourite to date though. I love this Imperial Agent set which comes with a whole host of excellent miniatures from the Games Workshop range.
Imperial Agents Boarding Patrol // Warhammer 40,000
This set comes with twenty Imperial Navy Breachers which can be built as specialists and gunners or with combat shotguns and hatchets. You also then get ten Elucidian Starstriders with the Cartographica Rogue Trader and her Voidsmen. There is also a loyal Canid for good measure. Capping things off, there is also an Eversor Assassin who is going to be sneaking through spaceships, ready to cut you down and then turn into a living bomb.
Are you going to be diving into Warhammer 40,000?

GW finally paying homage to the decades of teenage lads painting their marines’ helmets purple.
That Lieutenant doesn’t impress anymore than any of previous Lieutenants they have made. I do how like what Terminators are like now.
Ooh nice love the Gears of War Votann troops.
People have been kitbashing better Tyranid hunters for years.
The new upscaled termies look good. Shame they didn’t just do the same with the rest of the range.
I assume the new terminators are push-fit and from the new edition boxed game as we haven’t seen any alternate load outs yet.
That Lieutenant is really, really bad. Literally a quick CAD job with a few extra bits from the Genestealer Cult sprue. Probably a minimum wage worker going through the motions, with GW management telling them it’s fine, SMs sell no matter how lazy they are. It’s awful that this lazy CAD stuff is standard for Space Marines. Even the new Terminators put me to sleep.
The old metal t-veterans were works of art that the sculptors CARED about.
