Does The New Space Marine Redemptor Dreadnought Appeal To You?
May 29, 2017 by brennon
Games Workshop, during Warhammer Fest, showed off a sneaky look at their new Redemptor Dreadnought for the Space Marines of the new edition and Warhammer 40,000.
Armed to the teeth with some dangerous looking weapons this new version of the Dreadnought certainly appeals to me. As you can see with it standing next to some of his brother Space Marines this fellow is huge.
It seems like 'bigger is better' didn't just reflect the changes in the regular Primaris Space Marines but instead across the board. I think they've struck a good compromise between the old Contemptor Dreadnoughts and the new ones that have been around in Warhammer 40,000 for so long.
However, what do you think?
Let us know your thoughts on the Redemptor Dreadnought below...

Like it a lot 😀 . As much as i love my older Dreads, the Redemptor will be replacing one or two. The overall look of it is better, particularly the sense of articulation you now get from the legs, unlike the braced / locked out the older Dreads have.
* legs *. We really need a comment edit button.
I think its a great looking kit, still got the angular lines which appeals to me so will not look out of place mixed in with existing dreads and vehicles of differing vintage but sufficiently different in style to stand out from the crowd and not just the height differential due to scale. Couple of these in to paint up in smurf blue and escort my FellBlade around will be cool.
The legs are off. It makes it look hobbit-ey regarding its proportions. Im not sure Im liking a bigger version of everything. I don’t want marines to be replaced. They could have easily turned these guys into a seperate additional faction.
Really like the new Primaris stuff, though admittedly I’ve never collected space marines so I’m not in the same boat as long time marine players. Now I need to figure out what chapter to collect.
And the new dread is “piloted” by a newly created and recently deceased Primaris? xD
They are so new, some of the alpha batch died pretty fast hahahaha
They fit a normal dread sarcophagus, so any existing dread pilot can be transferred into one of these.
Why is it that whenever I see a brand new, shiny Space Marine kit I just have an uncontrollable urge to totally Nurglify* it?!
*Now a word.
That nurgle thing next to it certainly isn’t helping, eh ?
I must say I would have to resist the temptation to Nurglify(tm) the heck out of it as well.
I suspect it’s because them space marines are far too clean for their own good.
War is messy and dirty.
It’s not a friggin’ parade …
im not keen the new dread. i liked the marines (less so the jump troops) but this dread, something seems off to me. I think its his wee legs. admittedly it all looks functional, more so than previous dreads, but it doesnt seem quite right, some seems off thats not to my liking.
All they had to do was give it a mid section and bulk up the legs a bit and it would look good
Not bad at all. This dread can really walk, but i still like the old design, it brings back many good memories.
That’s one beefed up Dreadnought. Any idea if these are like Contemptor or like your regular 40k Dreadnoughts that are piloted by almost dead marine?
The sarcophagus of a normal dread can be seen as it’s ‘head’.
It’s ok i suppose. I think ‘compromising’ was bad idea. Also, i don’t like the idea of them making everything bigger. The whole appeal of the Primaris Space Marines for me is that they are in effect truer scale Space Marines. If everything gets bigger it wil negate that benefit.
I bet he kills like Caine from Robocop 2 :-O

I’m just putting it out there, and you may never forgive me for pointing it out, but “machine gun jubblies”.
looks great and more armoured than the old dreads.
Just like the Primaris, this is no longer “Dark GothicFuture”.
Even worse than the primaris. The Dread got a beer belly.
I like the new dreadnaught … At least the legs on this one look like 1) they have flexibility of movement and 2) could actually carry the dreadnaught across uneven terrain
I like everything except for the ‘face’, going to have to do something about it.
Ugh, legs look like they would hold it up (never mind walk). At least it looks like it has knees, but the body needs shrinking buy about 100 percent horizontally for it you look in proportion (for a walking humanoid tank type thingy).
…..Do not want 🙁
…….”legs look like they WOULDN’T hold it up” rather
I like where they are going but still a bit thin in the feet and ankles. And a bit fat in the torso.
This is something that could get me into the primaris marines!
