Side-Scrolling Action On The Way For Warhammer 40k: Carnage
April 10, 2014 by brennon
I bumped into this game at Games Day last year and it was quite the fun little distraction game. Warhammer 40,000: Carnage is a side-scrolling brawler where you play as a Space Marine slicing and dicing your way through hordes of Orks...
It's a bit of a time waster game but what it did do, slicing up Orks and shooting them up across the level, was pretty good. It looks like it's going to be available on both Android and iDevices and actually has a story penned by Graham McNeill. I didn't see that coming.
The addition of some co-operative play as well sounds fun and if this is priced right then this could be a nice game to play when you're bored.
Do you like the look of this?

That certainly looked very underwhelming … are they selling out the 40k license to anyone dangling a dollar?
This the Mega Drive version?
Man that sort of sucked balls. I would have thought the Orks would be in big mobs charging him, not him charging the Orks.
Looks like garbage.
It actually plays quite nicely – not a bad bit of time waster fun.
What’s with the flood of mediocre GW video games? Just looking for quick cash from license deals with minimal effort?
Bleh! Just go play Mercenary Kings and pretend your soldier is a Catachan. Now that is a good side scrolling game!
Wow, that is absolutely awful. I’m sorry, but I simply can’t lower my standards enough to even consider that worth my time. There are literally thousands of games out there, and I can think of no reason to play this one (and the music alone makes me want to hurl that iPad into the sun). By the time this year is over 40k videogames will have such an awful reputation in the marketplace that they’ll have a hard giving the license away to developers. That’s just bad stewardship. And it’s really just sad. They could do so much more, but… Read more »
Warhammer 40,000 firewarrior is a masterpiece
Certainly looks like the repetitive bastard child of Turrican and Golden Axe, but without the good bits. Too bad this did not come out in the early 90s when this sort of stuff was considered good.
Someone has told GW that mobile games are where the big monies are these days. and since THQ tanked, they are scrabbling for income.
I’m sorry to say GW have really dropped the ball recently and basically passed their IP around like a worn out ###censored####. I don’t know what they’re thinking, they’re destroying their IP via the only way non-model collectors come into contact with their IP.
For a company that lowers itself so badly when protecting their IP they really are … lowering themselves… when granting their IP. Gone are the days of Dawn of War and Space Marine, it seems, which spread their IP positively to many new peeps.
People, as usual, need to lose their jobs at GW
